My original plan was:
Starc - McPherson
Davis - Cahill (via DPP with Bewley)
Bewley - Petracca
But if Walters is out.....
Then I could do:
Starc - McPherson
Walters - Petracca/Greenwood
Bewley - Sidebottom
Which means I miss Cahill for a week...
I won't have as much cash, as Sidebottom is a higher reach than Petracca/Greenwood - and I didn't want to trade Walters - he's been a great selection.
But I might prefer to make the Walters to Greenwood call later than tonight, so I can see if there is other carnage....
It seems like Ballenden will have more opportunities to ruck so he should score more. Draper probably is mostly fwd if Bellchambers stays in the side. But then again, Ballenden could be gone in 2Ballenden or Draper?
IMO B.Smith (if you dont have him) is better than Laird/Ridley. If you can wait a week or two, I rate Stewart better than Crisp/Weller.I did a triple rookie swap last week and looking like another triple rookie this week.
Aish was going to be my upgrade to Lloyd this week but with the Geary tag, and a bye rnd 11 I'm wondering if he's really worth it.
But then Aish needs to go regardless before his bye round and he copes his measly 62.
Other options are Crisp / Laird/ Weller / Haynes / Ridley but I'm hardly getting premo vibes from any of them.
Ridley is decent but has absolutely no ceiling, even with 30+ point quarters he can’t get 85.I did a triple rookie swap last week and looking like another triple rookie this week.

I like Haynes from that lot. It does seem that, besides Lloyd, everyone else does seem kind of sub par as a premo
Just don’t go Crisp. There is always something with him and it is not fun watching him. When Howe went down he was supposed to come good but didn’t. Now he is relying on mid time but still capable of zero pt quarters. Sideass back this week as well. I would never recommend anyone to get Crisp, the risk of a 50 point game is always there for him.If
Yeh I've currently got:
Doch, Houston, B.Smith, Aish, Corr, Egg (McPherson / Day). I brought in mcPherson this week for bennell by swinging Starc.
I'm just stuck in a jam at the moment.
I want to ditch Aish before his average next week for a league matchup. Lloyd would be the ultimate for that as it nullifies him in my opponents team. But Aish is hardly my worst guy on field. It always seems like such a waste dropping $200k on top of an already expensive player.. especially when Lloyd will 100% cop attention this week.
Versus going value in a Crisp option (I reckon he gets more mid time now?)
Versus just avoiding the decision entirely this week (Aish may score similar to Lloyd this week) and swap some rooks around saving that kitty for next week to do a double or triple upgrade ($580k banked if I go Corr -> Ling and McInerney -> Close) and it gives me 2x playing benchmen in def, mid and fwd!

Have you considered Stewart? Maybe need another week to see if he is back to his best but he certainly screams fallen premo.
I think your options are:
-pay up for Lloyd
-settle for Haynes
-early on Stewart
-one more week of Aish
If you're after an interim defence option for a few weeks before you pull the trigger on Lloyd or Stewart, you could take a look at Zac Bailey. I think the Traders were talking him up. I don't know anything about him, other than he's had a good couple of weeks and has a low breakeven. Good matchup against Essendon tonight, although gets tougher with Tiges after that.If

This is what I’ve been doing for the last month, just ignoring the backline and fielding 3 rookies every time. Got it down to 2 rookies but after what Hamill and McPherson did last week, I went back to 3 rookies down back and locked in Egg’s 50 this week.I have a similar decision except I already have Lloyd and Crisp, and not Smith. My options:
I wish I could just get a midfielder instead.
- Smith would be the obvious pick except it seems like he absolutely must cop a tag this week, and that feels gross.
- Stewart, as has been noted, feels like going too early.
- I like Haynes and Ridley but having missed the boat on value for each of them they're not as exciting as they once were.
- Mills is tempting, except Horse.
- Sicily is due for a disappearance, so na.

Yeah I've also been rocking with the 3 defence rookies up till now. Finally bit the bullet this round and cashed in Pitto to get Lloyd. It's probably going too early on him, but I just want to get it done while I can. This is what I’ve been doing for the last month, just ignoring the backline and fielding 3 rookies every time. I forgot about Mills, he is actually a great option and better than Ridley imo. Played as an inside mid last week and I can only imagine he would get more opportunities in the midfield.
I still think we need to get Lloyd eventually. Ideal scenario is if he gets tagged this week and drops price for a few weeks. Pick up a bottomed out Stewart along the way and that’s my backline completed.
That's fair enough. Fwiw, I went with Lloyd this week, but your points on waiting a few more rounds make sense.I'm probably done with the interim defenders after grabbing Egg/Day and McPherson in the last week and a bit.
I want someone who can stick it out to the end now. But I'm somewhat against paying $770k for Lloyd when I could get Gaff for the same price (for example). Lloyd still capable of 60's particularly with a tag.
But outside of Lloyd/Doch there's almost no one I could bring in with supreme confidence that I'm actually 'ímproving' my side.
Perhaps I'll just let defense rot a while longer till we get some more DPP action.
Soooo, have to trade Close in before the Cats team is named.
What percentage chance do we give Close and Simpson being named?
Anybody taking the risk on Blakely?
Its wait and see for me but a spot has opened with Tucker out for the season and Connor is the confirmed in, will play inside mid, could rack up the points
