Just a minor thought on planning for the rolling lockouts... If you've got a rookie on the bench who you're planning to trade-out next, might be worth moving them now to the Utility position, if possible. That way, you'll keep the flexibility to bring in a new player from any line once the round is underway.
Minor thought? More like a simple genius thought.

Good idea. I'm stuck though in that I've got cav normally as my utility. Plus aarts up forward who I dont want to be my emergency.

So either way I'm locking my forward line and utility tonight.

Haha, thanks mate. Hopefully it makes up somewhat for some of the dud advice I've offered previously.

Still requires a suitable swap.
Ie, I could move McHenry to utility from mid bench but can't put Max King from utility to mids.

Yep, won't always be doable. But even if you can move your 2nd or 3rd most likely trade-out target into Utility, then you've given yourself a slight advantage.

Is this too crazy?
OUT - Mitchell IN - Kennedy
OUT - Buderick IN - Close
OUT - Taylor IN - Greenwood.
I like it. Gets you a POD by replacing Mitchell with Kennedy, which I think is a smart gamble - unless you think 3-6 weeks of compressed rounds is going to help Mitchell's leg recovery...! Budarick to Close is good, and getting Greenwood in is a strong move I think.

I'm in a dilly of a pickle.

I have four rookies remaining on field + the Egg Molester, yet all scored well last week (except the Egg) and there is plenty of money still to be made. I really want to upgrade to another premium on field and none of my bench rookies have made any money whatsoever.

🤔
Xerri and Butler to Close and McPherson? Hard to know with the third trade though. Williams to whatever 170k rookie is named? I reckon your bench should be a priority with it generating hardly any cash and your field looking excellent.

Sooo 45th iteration of my trade plans, keeping Yeo. He fits the M8 role (pts/$$ wise), so pretty much wasting a trade getting rid of him.

Current trades:
  • C. Taylor > Brodie Smith (DPP Simpkin)
  • Brouch > Cogs
  • King > Close

Can't fault them. I'm well out of it and languishing at around 17k so I'll be bringing in PODs wherever possible.

Same boat as you mate. Dropped 7K > 17K due to injuries (Doedee, Brouch), Simpkin (Tag), (C) Grundy, and poor trading (Egg/Porter... shudders....)

In terms of PODs, Stewart/Duncan are high on my list.

Was thinking this too. But it’s so risky doing it in a line where there’s 7 other players and you won’t know if they’re named before Bennells match tomorrow night

Agree. The key will be flexibility and committing to loopholes pre-game 1 seems like a massive risk not worth taking.
But I guess if you're not sure on fielding Pickett anyway there's no harm in having him emergency on the bench and then reassess again after tonight?
If he smashes it with a 70+ perhaps it'd be worth the risk?
The rolling lockout may help to leave the loopholes to the last possible moment too.

So will we get Fridays teams before the first game starts tomorrow?

Who has better job security, Ling or Watson? If I want to go to Vandermeer to Gaff I have to pull the trigger tonight. Risky I know

Think I might do the same actually. Think its important to have at least 1 legitimate EMG in each line over the next few weeks instead of loopholing rookie scores, especially when you are going to be making your trades early on like I will be to upgrade Gibbons.

On that, the AFLs "In the Mix" article named Simpson as a potential omission this week....

Fwiw on Zorko, as someone who watches the lions every week- I don't think there's too much risk of injury or resting. I would be more concerned he'll play a lot forward over this stretch. Lions have plenty of guys to take his midfield rotations and he can easily play forward.

This may be a stupid question but just to confirm in no uncertain terms... this is a daily rolling lockout now right?

So I can still trade tomorrow just excluding dogs and tigers?

Correct
Game by game lockout.
Only exception will be bye teams (not relevant this week) who lockout at start of first game of round.
