they've struggled to break down teams who sit back.
give them a chance to counter - which I think going by the way the US have played so far they will and they can be very dangerous. hazard is one of the most dangerous counter attack players in the world.
I wouldn't write them off.
sort of but opposition have been very, very defensive against them - against a team who attacks they could be a lot better to watch. as long as the us don't change the way they've played so far, this could be the game.

People are entitled to have a go at them, coz they really are putrid. They just rely on Mertens and maybe Hazard doing something, just maybe. Desperately needs improving
They're not obligated to play any style at all, particularly a style that only satisfies fans. They have to build up their experience and confidence as a team first. Everything else, including your satisfaction = negligible priority.
I've got some news for you. Which I'm surprised you don't seem to know, since you're a committed fan on this board. Winning games in the WC is hard. Really hard. Don't underestimate that.

I'm surprised at the USA love though, I thought they were extremely lucky to get out of their group, and while their achievement is great given the lack of superstar players, I just can't see them cutting it at this level.

Extremely lucky I wouldnt agree. Could have drew with Ghana where they won, could have beat Portugal where they drew. Loss to Germany was fair. Portugal were shit and no way deserved to go through. Ghana inconsistent. The USA thoroughly deserved it imo they had the right blend of tactics, skill and discipline.

I am pretty sure i read somewhere that the most attended World Cup in history was actually the one in the USA in 1994. lol. So they must have some interest in it, but it will probably never overtake Baseball, Gridiron etc.
