Re: Round 10 - Trades

Hey guys. Some interesting talk re:Watts v Playfair. From a swannies supporter perspective I don't think Playfair will remain in the side for too long. We have some good people to come back and there are other options I think we'd rather play in the foward line. Braddles is only out for a few weeks, not the rest of the season! And Jesse White will be back. McGlynn is just about to come back in. Pyke could also be a huge help foward now Mummy is back.... I just can't see how he can hold his spot for any more than a few weeks. This could be perfect from a cash generation perspective however I'm thinking Watts will also provide some cash, but more importantly provide a downgrade option I think will play out the rest of the season & give good cover (with the option of making me some money just in case I do need to trade him out later on).

This is the reasoning why I think I'm going:

OUT: Gumby; IN: Watts
OUT: Warnock (who knows when he'll get a game); IN: Skipper ($$$)

Then next week I'm def going:
OUT: Ball (or Martin?? Any thoughts??); IN: Montagna
OUT: Waters (or hunt?); IN: Def premium... Gilbee? Gilbert? Duffield?

Or am I one week too late for the defender upgrade? I guess I could go Heater Shaw instead??

You think so? I am thinking Playfair's form has been much better than White, but I suppose "the future" and all that (we do it at my club too).

Problem with Watts is he could just as easily average 50 or less for the rest of the year, or get an injury again and be benched for the whole year.

I don't particularly want to jump on Henry, but I don't see any other downgrade targets coming soon, and if they don't, then I, like a few others, will get fairly stuck.

On your think, Montagna is good value.

I'd go Gilbee though I'd also look at Enright.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

in two weeks there is a good chance that playfair wont even be playing.....

remember that later on in the year emergencies can play a big part once trades start to dry up..... if you have plenty of trades then playfair, if you are with 8 trades or less, I would go watts for better security.....

ive got 12 trades and about to use 2 to downgrade gumby to watts, then martin to judd..... maybe Im being too conservative, but with 10 trades, only 2 players to upgrade and avg 2210 Im feeling good heading to finals time..... then the extra trades will hopefully be used to upgrade 7's such as maguire and pods depending if I remain injury free....

I agree with all you say, but if Playfair is F9 and F8 is rock solid then it's irrelevant. Of course if you're choosing a field player go Watts, but I was talking about a cash cow not a field player.

Besides, against most teams, young Watts will be lucky to score 50, so frankly you're better off covering from your mids, or just copping the donut and using the money somewhere else IMO.

Btw, upgrading Pods is ridiculous. Waste of a trade.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

I have 8 trades left and approx. $488k in the bank.

I'd like to upgrade one of my defenders (either Nason or Silvagni)

Should I do it this week and get Gilbee ($499k with BE of 85) or wait until next week and get Shaw ($466k with BE of 153) - price will obviously come down further. Thoughts?

Re: Round 10 - Trades

B: Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Hurn, Waite, Waters, Maguire (Webberley & Roberton)
M: Ablett, Dal Santo, Selwood, Montagna, Barlow, Bastinac (Rohan & Shuey)
R: Sandilands, NicNat (Trengrove & Lobbe)
F: J Brown, ROK, Pavlich, Franklin, Didak, Higgins, Pods (Duncan & Roberts)

1 trade left this week (11 overall) & $135k in bank. Am tossing up whether or not it's worth going NicNat > Cox this week. Basically, it means Bastinac/Rohan must remain at M6 for at least another 3 weeks if i do this, as I have my eye on Waters > Malceski next week.

So should I:
a) NicNat > Cox (this week...and leave Bastinac in M6 for 3 weeks); or
b) Leave NicNat for time being, and make Bastinac > Judd/Murphy my priority over the next fortnight??

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Would you do:
Warnock->Skipper
or
Warnock->$83k

I have Trengove as my back up ruckman, so very unlikely they will even play.

I'm needing $100k to upgrade Martin->Montagna.

My other candidates to trade down would be: Nason (back), Peterson/Rockliff (forward). But I actually like the job security of those 3 guys, and no real back/forward jumping out at me.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

I have a few options this week.
I have 10 trades left and 315k in the bank. i want to get rid of bastinac and either waters or kennelly this week. Thinking i may keep kennelly

1: Bastinac > Murphy and Kennelly>Fisher then next week bazza>ROK

2: Bastinac > Goodes and Waters>Fisher+$$ and maybe bazza>ROK

3: Bastinac > ROK and Waters> Fisher+$$

thoughts?
anyone any other ideas, im a bit stuck

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Anyone seriously considering putting in K. Bradley for Kennelly? Massive risk but potential rewards is amazing. My mates going to do it but I don't think I've got the balls to pull this one off.

Will probably downgrade Silvagni then upgrade Kennelly

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Is Kepler Bradley worth picking up?? ive got kennelly with sheppard or davis as cover, I just cant decide to wait three weeks and keep kennelly or bring in bradley???

Option 1 looks the safest- Murph and Chips are not going to get any cheaper, and are both very consistent (although Chips is down on last year's output- he's got some improving to do, surely...). Goodes and RoK are ridiculously cheap at the moment though. So is Murphy to be fair...

What do you guys think of Angus Graham as a 2nd ruck? I expect he'll have more job security now? Looking at Leuenberger as well. Can afford to get Cox, but it limits my upgrade plans in other positions. Have Sandi, White, Stanley and Roughead at the moment.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

history says BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..... but you never know

Couldn't have put it better. :D

Best off going to a premium or having a look at someone like Heath from the Swans if you want a cheapie.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Need some help with what I think is a tough decision if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

B: Hodge, Goddard, Malceski, Gilbee, Enright, Carazzo, H.Shaw (Davis, Webberley)
M: Ablett, Judd, Swan, Montagna, Cooney, Barlow (Trengrove, Shuey)
R: Sandilands, Hille (Warnock, McCauley)
F: Pavlich, Brown, O'Keefe, S Johnson, Goodes, Podsially, Rockliff (Gumbleton, Hughes)

8 trades remaining, 16k in the bank.

I just want Chapman to complete the team but that of course means that with him and Brown in my forward line I need a reliable 8th forward.

I am trying to decide the best way to raise the cash while keeping Gumby as my 8th, or maybe having Watts as my 8th. (I like his JS, Rockliff and Hughes meh) Watts combined with Hughes as cover also has benefits.

Anyone like the idea of Gumby down to Watts and then wait for a downgrade target for Trengrove, hope that Shuey comes back also, and upgrading Rockliff to Chapman when the time is right? (2-4 weeks at a guess)

The money just from Trengrove won't get the job done and I really want cover.

The other option is really tight case wise but I could cash in Warnock instead of Gumby, have an additional ruck bench that may get games and hope the b/e gods are in my favour to get Chappy?

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Trading in Goodes this week....which one should i get rid of for him; Gumbleton or Fyfe? Cheers fellas.
Will Fyfe hold his spot all year? Gumby will, but wont score as highly as Fyfe.

Re: Round 10 - Trades

Who is the best defensive option under $470,000 or so?
Shaw, Duffield, Fisher, Newman, Carrazzo, Gilbert etc.
So many options but I just can't decide. What does everyone think???

Out of that group, Shaw. Will average the most out of those players. He's inconsistent but if your looking for a cheap defender to average 100+ for the rest of the year he's your man.
