Collingwood the biggest club out of the Victorian clubs. Interesting that Geelong for that last 10 years have always been ranked as the 3rd biggest club in Victoria ahead of Richmond and Carlton. Victorian clubs on order are in terms of nationwide support;

Collingwood 908,000
Essendon 663,000
Geelong 642,000
Carlton 581,000
Richmond 559,000
Hawthorn 502,000
St.kilda 377,000
Melbourne 330,000
Western Bulldogs 324,000
North Melbourne 174,000

Dumb question.... If "50000 to 65000" people are surveyed, how do they work out that 1,000,000 barrack for Sydney?
The extrapolate the numbers out to represent 26m. I.e. if 50k are interviewed, they would times the results by 520 (50k x 520 = 26m). That is how they do any survey for politics, etc.

I know it’s the general basis of how any quantitative research is completed but it really does have a lot of flaws in this instance with how the questions are worded. Garbage in, garbage out principle

The survey is done for advertisers and sponsors. It details info on the demographics and buyer behaviour/preferences of each team’s supporter base.

If you simply wanted to find out who are the biggest clubs in the country you would simply ask ‘what football team do you follow?’.
But who would pay for that?

All Fair points.
