Oh and yet another NRL stadium upgrade...

This is not just a NRL Stadium. It’s Perth’s only rectangle stadium, just like Melbourne Rectangle Stadium.

It also host Perth Glory in the A-League and Western Force in Super Rugby. And soccer internationals and concerts. And it’s owned by the WA Government.

The western grand stand, which is anticipated to get a redevelopment if Perth gets the 18th NRL team, is from before the 1970’s when the ground was a WAFL oval. It’s the last bit that has not been modernised over the last decade.

Swans vs Power at the SCG - 44,053

Cronulla vs North Queensland at Allianz Stadium - 19,124.

Embarrassing for the self proclaimed greatest game of all.
Interesting to see whether the Sharks are going to receive the same level of commentary as the Giants?

Afterall, they're in a league mad city.

There was this -
"... Throughout the week, tickets were also being given away with Cowboys legend Johnathan Thurston buying $10,000 worth of tickets for Queensland fans living in NSW. However, the attendance still fell well short of capacity.

While fans were quick to roast the scenes, the NRL’s struggles were also pointed out by AFL commentator Brian Taylor on the Channel 7 broadcast. “Lovely scenes here at the SCG, of course prelim finals,” Taylor said. “Next door, an NRL game looks half empty there about 10,000 people. The SCG absolutely packed out. Amazing. Give some attention to Aussie rules up here, it’s going pretty well I reckon.” ..."

TV ratings in Sydney for the Swans game have been used by Buzz Rothfield as the deflection tactic re the dreadful crowd at the NRL.

And thats probably fair if you are going to claim you win Sydney based on crowds. they get to do the same on their chosen metrics.

But it isn't equivalent, that's the point. Physical attendance represents both more passionate support and greater revenue generation.

Wallabies have had some really good crowds this year. Considering the RWC failure and other issues RA has been through.

35 945 v Wales - Sydney (Allianz)
21 932 v Wales - Melbourne (AAMI)
26 139 v Georgia - Sydney (Allianz)
52 019 v Sth Africa - Brisbane (Suncorp)
58 197 v Sth Africa - Perth (Optus)

23k for a Wales v Qld game in Brisbane.

Pretty heavy rain for the Melbourne game also.

Should get around 60k for the game against the All Blacks in Sydney at Accor Stadium.

68 063 for the game against NZ at Accor Stadium.

While Rugby isn't in the best spot at the moment, still some strong crowds around the country.

Good support always for the All Blacks, Boks fans were out in force in Brisbane and assume Perth.

Tickets sales have been excellent for the Lions tour next year and along with the Rugby Championship will be another well attended year.

Plenty to work on for RA in regards to TV Viewers, Domestic Comp, pathways and other areas.

A good time of year to see how the other half lives - tickets have been on sale for the NRL GF for the last two days (members on Monday and public today) and there’s still plenty left in almost all price levels.

I genuinely can’t fathom not selling out a GF at the earliest possible opportunity.

They go on sale like months in advance don´t they???

Anyone that wants to go can go.

Yeah they always struggle particularly in these kind of scenarios where there is a smaller sydney team v a non Broncos non-NSW team (which is generally the Storm)

Suspect there will be a lot of people ending up with free tickets later in the week.

Outside of COVID years, I am not sure there has been a public sale of GF tickets this century

It's sort of a been-there-done-that type of GF.
