The mag court won't list the charge/s, what is booked in is a committal hearing firstly, that will determine if the matter will be heard at the maggie or a

I think its important to note here that you need to be very careful where suppression orders are made.
For instance, even if you don't know something is suppressed and you talk about it, that's contempt of court.
Even if there is an old news story that mentions him, and you link to it, or screenshot it, even though it's already public you can be charged.
And here's another kicker, even if his name a case is listed publicly on a courts website, if you link to it, tell anyone about it, or show a screenshot, you are also

I'd be amazed if they didn't.

The reality is, there would be unseemly activity going on at all clubs (more accurately by some players), and a fair chunk of it would be kept secret by journalists. For a simple reason, they don't want to lose their all access pass to players and coaches, which they depend on for their existence. And it's happened at all clubs. Honestly I think we know 10% at most of what really goes on.
They do know about. From memory the first news report was a p1 story in The Hun. Every court reporter, and by extension senior newsroom staff, knows the identity/details of cases subject to a suppression order.

There is a huge difference between rumour and fact. The journos need to be able to back up the allegations in court if sued.
Saying I was told by a footy player doesn’t cut it. You can sit with the lawyers and swear the source is 100% spot on, but you still have to be able to prove it if tested in a court.
The multitude of different rumours about JUH is a case in point. They can’t all be true. Should they all be reported?
I’m not silly enough to say every journo reports everything they know. But to say they don’t because they fear they will lose their all access pass is wrong.
And many stories are written that editors decide, for one reason or another, should not be published.

serious questions need to be asked about Geelong's culture and want went wrong for this kid while at that football club.
Not enough motorcycle enthusiasts is my guess. Dusty Martin's dad was very involved with helping a friendly group of motorcycle fans, Jake King too. Geelong need to invite people like Toby Mitchell into the club to guide these young fellas from harm, just like Richmond did so successfully.

No, thats not what is being implied at all. Simply stating that some people when they get into positions of power/celebrity in arrogance become more and more of a position that they can do whatever they want.

And moving from being an AFL footballer in Sydney (where the general public is barely going to care) to an AFL footballer in Melbourne can feed into the belief of being able to do what they want.

And if you don't think that AFL Footballers in Melbourne who play for Collingwood/Geelong/Richmond are getting more celebrity treatment than players from North, you're kidding yourself. And that can feed into a belief of being able to do whatever the **** they want.

Take offence of the fact that celebrities may think they can do what they want and get away with it? And the bigger the celebrity they are, the more they think they can get away with?

Donald Trump famously said that he could murder someone in broad daylight on Wall Street and escape punishment simply because of who he is. And that was prior to his election.

I mean jesus ****ing christ, the whole concept of Jeffrey Epstein's island and P Diddy's parties is because of shithole Celebrities thinking they can do what they want to "smaller profile people" simply because they're celebrities? And you think that an idiotic take?

It’s not billionaire businessman and two time president Donald Trump.

It’s a 22 year old footballer with seven career Brownlow medal votes, not so much as a rising star nomination who has not even been a first choice player for two full seasons at the club you think has given him the belief that he’s entitled to assault people on a whim.

So all the other young men his age who do the same thing as what he’s alleged to have done - and it happens far too often as it is because it is a huge problem across society - they just do it because it’s a ‘normal’ mistake and crime, but in his case it’s the influence of his football club and it’s status as a relatively successful Victorian one?

You gotta admire how this guy carfully words his argument to suit his narrative.

No this 22yo footballer with 7 career Brownlow votes may not have been a first choice player over the past two full seasons, but that is irrelevant, because what is alleged to have taken place happened in February of 2023, more than 2 full seasons ago, at a time when he'd just been taken for the 2nd time with a 1st round pick and regarded for his versatility by their recruiting manager, 280 game, 3x Premiership player, Andrew Mackie.

Probably because he had also racked up 30 games in 2 seasons for GWS who were dissppointed to be losing him back to Victoria.

But no, he's just a list clogger so this guy says.

This lecture series of yours has been fascinating.

Can we put them in a book? It's a bit of a mouthful, but I have your synopsis:

"The author brazenly constructs a series of bizarre logical stretches and nonsensical arguments, desperately attempting to fit their own delusional narrative. This comedic satire offers a sharp commentary into the dangers of prolonged untreated psychosis."

And you’ve gotta admire how you’re trying to pin a crime that happens in day to day life on this man’s football team.

He has been at Geelong for 48 games and played 33, only becoming a first choice player last year and not a top tier one at that.

The notion that he would think ‘I can rape someone because Geelong’ compared to any other basic reasoning someone might have for committing such a terrible act is so dumb it’s impossible to put into words.

I just don’t see how you can link a player’s crime to their club environment ..especially when it’s only one player and not several which would promote a stronger argument of a cultural issue. It’s a complex issue and not simply black and white that you can pin it on someone’s working environment to such a serious crime .

Some serious self evaluation is needed if that’s what you truly believe or if you are just trying to pin such a serious issue on GfC because it’s very clear you have an axe to grind….it isn’t a football issue it’s a human one.

He's been moaning about Geelong for years. This is just the latest thing he's found to latch onto in spinning a bizarre narrative that comforts him. All the unfair advantages, corruption, conspiracies and so on that Geelong intertwined with apparently now extend to a culture that literally turns good citizens into rapists. His 5 year thesis has arrived at its big conclusion.

Sorry mate - you picked and traded for him. Sorry, it’s not drink driving he’s charged with…

Actually Ive already said I dont believe his short time at Geelong when its alleged to have happened is any reflection of the club itself.

Perhaps you need to read better.

I'm going to go a bit more abstract here for a moment - it doesn't seem at all unreasonable that an AFL player feels like they have a privileged status. I'm sure that the fact that he has (even a relatively small) public profile & young & athletic basically guarantees footballers will often have relationships/interactions with a massive power imbalance.

The AFL is far from the only code to have seen the combination of those factors lead to players committing atrocious acts - criminal or otherwise. And if you look at statistics of the general population the rate of offending would suggest there are probably more than a few in the league that simply don't ever get caught. Who knows what club they play for? I doubt it would have anything to do with it.

To zoom back in and reflect on the current incident - I think you could absolute suggest that there would be an entitled/arrogant mindset. And that mindset belongs to the individual holding it, not their employer - if there are failures/gaps in the education that players are getting then by all means attack on that angle and hopefully it leads to improvements. But I think that's where the club angle ends.

From an outsider looking in I agree Stengle shouldn't have played. But if that's the way the club has decided to manage him that's their decision and they'd have their reasons. His issues were well known from his prior club.
Well said. What didn’t sit well was Geelong played the mental health card….that’s infuriating. Call it for what it is a bad decision and move on.

So because Geelong traded for him they are responsible for his actions outside of the football club? Was Richmond also responsible for Balta beating the snot out of someone? Prestia doing the same thing? Pickett committing armed robbery?

Agreed, and I would suggest moreso when they arrive in a succesful environment.
It doesnt help when there is an external perception that a lot of that success has come from doing as they please.
I mean, who else gets to audit their own work, really.

No, these points that you're stuck on are irrelevant.

Big diff my friend. We didn’t hide it and took action. Geelong must have a big cemetery…a lot of things are regularly buried……….

What?

What action? Pickett was stood down for 1 match during his trial “to be with his family” which was on the other side of the country, while Brendon Gale spoke about how much of an inspiration he was.

Again, what action are you proposing Geelong takes given that no one is even allowed to legally mention it?

Do you want us to break the law?

Are you saying the Tigers would do that and risk the victim getting no justice, because your club is so virtuous

Pull the other one.
