Wtf???? How does this not constitute a crime in and of itself? Surely that's domestic abuse? what am I missing here?

Someone said it earlier. I don’t think he meets the definition of psychopath under DSM

More worryingly I think he’s a sociopath with narcissistic features. When the Gary Jubelin podcast comes out free with Haddrick it’s worth the listen.

Time to go camping before the appeal!

He told his family he was going camping in the Grampians haha

He’s a lying liar that lies. Not sure what he’s going to do if he gets off what a thought

'pscyhopath' is not a clinical term and does not exist in the dsm.

The fifth edition of the manual, the DSM-5 (2013), identified psychopathy as a specific form of ASPD but did not list psychopathy itself as a clinical diagnosis

I never said it was a clinical diagnosis. You also spelled the term incorrectly.

I’ve posted on this a number of times, it’s not new to me.

brutha i am registered as a psych w/ ahpra. no one gets 'defined as a psychopath' in this day and age.

Psychopath and sociopath are not terms you'll find in the DSM. Anti social personality disorder (the closest you'll find to those terms) is probably what he fits criteria for. If I have time later I'll open up my copy and post the diagnostic criteria for that disorder

Make sure you mention the bit in section three

You didn’t address anything I said

When you’re running your hare tests how does it go?
you said he doesn't 'meet the definition for a psychopath'. i said no one gets 'defined as a psychopath'. he may score highly for 'psychopathy' in the subset of 'anti social personality disorder', but a definition of 'a psychopath' is not at all what you'd infer from that, let alone a label one would use clinically.

I don't have the time and energy tonight to open the big purple book, so I've enlisted AI:
The DSM-5 does not officially diagnose psychopathy, but instead classifies it as a type of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). The DSM-5 criteria for ASPD include:
  • A pattern of disregarding and violating the rights of others
  • Behavior that breaks social norms, such as not following laws
  • Difficulty feeling empathy or remorse
    • A tendency to lie, manipulate, or deceive others
    • A disregard for the safety of self and others
    • A tendency to avoid responsibility
    • Aggressive and violent behavior
    • Difficulty planning ahead or managing impulses
    Surely he meets this criteria

faark me. I never said it was clinically defined in DSM. My entire point was under the diagnostic check list I don’t think he fits the criteria. Specifically the lack of difficulty around planning.

It’s my fault actually. I should have been more specific so the armchair bullshitters didn’t get all up and about.

If we’re going to throw out jury decisions then remove it and make them judge only
Totally agree and I've considered this when other cases eventuated with a similar outcome.Rules need to be re-written.The jury's decisions should not be overruled particularly when given explicit instructions by the presiding justice.Makes a mockery of the jury system that to my way of thinking should be the paramount test in an indictment situation.Judgement by ones peers ( again with learned guidance ) should produce a indisputable outcome.

Settle. I just copied and pasted what I found. I'm not sure he would have to meet every single checkpoint on the criteria. If you have time I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on where you think he stands in relation to each checkpoint. Hard to argue with every other point on the above list
