Ryan Griffen Requests Trade

Yep. He's contracted so always have to pay overs for contracted guys. Griffen is the first big fish gws have been able to land. They couldn't give a shite about 4 and 7. They will do what they have to do to get it done.

Agreed. I suppose theyd rather Griff than 2 more 18year olds.

I disagree mate. It's hard I know, but Griffen won't be there for your next flag.

McCartin and Wright could hold the flag aloft in 5 years.
That would be a fair point if we were looking to trade Griffen.

But you're sort of missing the point. The fact of the matter is that a loyal captain who has previously rejected more money from other clubs to stay with us has walked out - and not to a premiership contender - which reflects the poor coaching, management and other like features of the club.

Guys I know its difficult to get your head around it but always remember that you support the western bulldogs (footscray)
Players are now proffesionals and have various reasons for leaving wanting to leave and the FA has now made things easier.
Whilst its softened now with the compensation picks the chances are they will not exist in a year or 2.

If you remove the emotion from all this and take a logical view of the outcome that may be possible - Ryan Griffen is doing the Doggies a massive Favour
The Doggies are in my view 3-4 years away from becoming a very very good team & Griffin will be 32/33 and finished or close to finished

Ryan griffen is effectively giving the Doggies 2 extremely good players for 10-12 years, Perhaps McCartin & Weller along with Wright is pretty much setting the doggies up for the next 10 years as far as KPP and your mids are already quality with perhaps 1 more beind added will replace Griffen in 2 years

Look on the upside guys - Glass Half Full
Ok. You are right. The club is bigger than the individual. BUT where are the club managers telling us what is going on. Time to forget whether comments are going to rock the boat for any precious employees there. Just come out and tell the important people (the members) what the heck is happening down there. Grr.

Ah black pup you and I been fighting the good fight and trying to tell people.
Not sure how many times people wanted to ignore the news or attack Barrett for reporting there was problems.

Where are those people now - I hope they are hurting as much as I am - I hope they are crying.
And next time I hope they take on board more what they are hearing rather than flog us off

You do a pretty good job of flogging yourself off without our help. Show some class for christs sake.

It's a blessing in disguise. I think Macca has stated a direction that Griffen doesn't like, and has preempted losing him in FA.

I come in here offering condolences and we can relate as Judd left us when he was still captain.
I was glad Judd left when he did, he could hardly run and I thought it was the end of him. He came back a bit but we got a good deal, so did Carlton.
As others have suggested, it may actually be good for the club. Especailly if Griffs back doesn't hold out for long.

Griff won't give us an answer. He hates the media. He will be to gutless to tell us the truth. A captain leaving a club SHOULD let his adoring fans know why his chosen this.
C'mon, Griff isn't gutless. It's pretty sad reading people post these things about Griff.

Another Theory; and this one may be because i rate Griffen so highly(and maybe a little bit of a man crush). Potentially he just wants out, fair and simply, but instead of ****ing us over next year he maned up and told the coaching staff that his heart just isn't here anymore, which allows us to get something for him now.

Mate, I don't come on here and bullshitting, and you do get sick of these clowns, that know nothing and continually take shots. I'm sure the club new ABOUT RYAN, is this the bullet that had to be bitten??????
I'm not unhappy about Griffen going, this great club is bigger than the individual, and it certainly opens the door for us to get into the club what we need. GO DOGGIES.
One thing I take out of this. Surely the club knew what was going on. All the new promo stuff had other players involved and Griffen hadn't done any media at all for the club. Could this have been one of the big moves that King was talking about last week?

Regardless, someone had posted a tweet about a rumour of pick #4, a second rounder and 2 lower ranked players.
This is a trade I wouldn't mind too much. The lower ranked players could easily be players like Sam Darley. Talented but left behind a bit because of the massive amounts of other talent around him. Could also be KPP players who would be developing fine elsewhere, but not getting games at GWS because they have so many KPP's to develop.

Why isn't his heart in it? If he's lost interest in football he should go take up crochet. If he's lost interest in the club I want to know why and stop getting these crowd pleaser comments

To be perfectly honest they cant do this at the moment, They need to make all the trades happen and have all the shiney new draftee's at the club and then they will explain their vision/path and all will be well and members will be happy.

Just need to be calm and see what the "END RESULT' Is when its all done and finished, The only down side of all this is loseing experienced players like Griffen and maybe Cooney but the club needs to be smart and get 1 or 2 good FA players into the club next year

You must also remember that Griffen would be on $650+ and this also gives the club the ability to pay your younger players more to keep them in contract
If i was a doggies supporter - I would be very happy with this result.

Whilst it would be hard for me to accept Delidio leaving, I would take it next year for 2 early 1st round selections for a 28 yo

These things happen. It's like asking how someone falls out of love with their partner.

This is the first time I've been worried all season. I just don't know what the **** is going on. The hard-faced list manager in me wants to take GWS for all their worth and blitz this draft. The Bulldog in me wants to burn the place down.

The optimist in me says this is good. For years guys like Johnson etc were happy to play out their career at the Dogs without wanting to leave elsewhere. They would have rathered stay at the club where they were the gods and did what they wanted. This is the club's management forcing out the weak minded.

The pessimist in me says the management is a cancer and Mccartney needs to go.

The realist just cries a little inside

Josh Kennedy has outperformed Judd since the move to Carlton.

People on this board wanted us to give Carlton pick #5 for Kennedy to facilitate the trade - instead we used it on Jarrad Grant
