Event S30 Rookie “Gun of the Year” Award [Rising Star]

Welcome, everyone. My name is GremioPower and, on behalf of the S29 Rookie Class, I present to you all the S30 Rookie "Gun of the Year" award.

​

Each week, a different rookie will get the title of Gun, considering his on-field performance. It is all about the qooty!

By the end of the Minor Round, more will join the 16 weekly nominees to form the S30 Rookies ALL-GUN squad. The best among them will be deemed the TOP GUN.

Both the ALL-GUN squad and the TOP GUN winner will be announced during the Rising Star Award Night.

I. HOW DOES THE “GUN OF THE YEAR” WORK?



Since it was a Brazilian who has designed the award, players will be evaluated considering their ARSE. Brazilians know and appreciate a good ARSE. It’s simple – the bigger the better.

Every week, the biggest ARSE from each line forwards, mids, backs, and interchanger may become candidate for the award. The Committee may also include a Wild Card candidate in special circumstances. [See 'IV' below]

Then, the Rising Star Committee will pick one among the candidates to be the GUN OF THE WEEK, considering the players contribution to their teams in that particular round. The winner will be announced prior to the following round.

II. HOW DOES THE TOP GUN AWARD AND THE ALL-GUN SQUAD WORK?



Those are cumulative. The players’ ARSE during the season are added up. The player with the biggest ARSE wins the TOP GUN.

Those among the Top-20 who weren’t Gun of the Week, they also receive the title of Gun. Their names will be announced during the Rising Star Night.

If the ALL-Gun squad ends up with more than 20 players, those with smaller ARSE will be named as ALL-GUN emergencies. Players will be fielded in the line-up preferably in their most common positions. If not possible, than, in a position or a line that they have played. The order for fielding will be decided primarily by the ARSE. Players may be fielded in a strange position to complete the ALL-GUN side.

III. WHAT DOES “ARSE” MEAN?



ARSE stands for “Adjusted Rookie Standard of Excellence.”

Basically, it is the DT score multiplied by a determined adjusting factor depending on the position in which the player is listed for a particular round. These are the positions and their respective factors:

Thus, it doesn’t matter much where one plays. Everybody has a fair shot at the prize.

IV. HOW ARE THE NOMINEES FOR THE ROUND CHOSEN?

Every week the best players from each line are ranked from first to fourth, in accordance to the ARSE (the highest being the first). The Top-2 get the nomination regardless.

For the third place, his ARSE must be 70% or higher than that of the second place to get a nomination. For instance:

1st. MF ARSE: 105

2nd. FW ARSE: 100

3rd. 
BK ARSE: 99

4th. IC ARSE: 94


70% of 2nd = 70% of 100 = 70​

In this case, the BK player (3rd) becomes a candidate [99>70].

For the fourth place, the rule is different. He can only become a candidate when the third place has reached the threshold set above.

Being that case, the fourth place gets the nomination if the difference between his ARSE and that of the third place is lower than the difference between that between the first and the third places. Using the example above:

1st-3rd = MF-BK = 105-99 = 6

3rd-4th = BK-IC = 99-94 = 5

In this case, the IC player (4th) also becomes a candidate [5<6].

* Special Cases:

- when two or more players are tied for first place and their ARSE is high enough to overcome all the thresholds, they all become nominees in that round;

- three committee members may deem a player worth of nomination, although his ARSE is not high enough to warrant it; if other three members do not veto it, then that player becomes a nominee as a “Wild Card.”

- the simple majority of the committee may vote whether a player is unworthy of nomination; the majority of votes wins.

As it was said above, it doesn’t matter much where one plays. Everybody has a fair shot at the prize.

V. CAN ANY ROOKIE GET THE AWARD?



In order to participate, a rookie needs to apply for the award.

It’s simple. One just needs to post once in his team's match thread before the final siren. Otherwise, his adjusting factor that week is “0;” regardless of his position.

 If the Rising Star Committee misses a late entry, it's up for the rookie to point it out.

For the TOP GUN and the ALL-GUN squad, there is no minimum of posts required. Every performance during the season will count for the final ladder with all factors taken into count.

VI. IS "THE GUN OF THE YEAR" THE SAME THING AS "THE RISING STAR?"

No, it's not. The GUN OF THE YEAR is just a part of the Rising Star Award. The main thread can be found here:

Look. I'm ok with this, although I see myself as a team player rather than an individualist. So I'm more than happy for others to take the plaudits. Mostly because they're much more likely to receive them than I am.

But does there have to be so much talk about guns and killing? I mean, can't it just be the "Nicest of the Year" Award or something similar? Then you could have the ALL-NICEST and TOP NICEST. I don't want to try and tell you how you should be doing things GremioPower, but I think that would be much more agreeable.
