Saad

Awesome talent last year in the VFL. Fast, keeps his feet in a contest, kicks goals and gets his own ball in packs. Perfect qualities in a crumber or HFF.

Wanted WCE to recruit him exciting small foward who is a good shot on goal.

Really liking the Saints foward line of Kosi, Milne, Saad, Milera, Wilkes and Riewoldt great balance there.

Throw in Goodard and its one of the better foward lines in the AFL.

They just need to keep Stanley out of there, or only give him a few minutes foward a game as he doesn't gel as well as the others.

Wilkes looks alright and works well with Kosi and Nick.

Saad adds that class.

Ross Lyon leaves the Saints and lo and behold, they unearth some quality young players!

He was a good tactical coach but a SHOCKING list manager. Ross leaving was the best thing that could've happened to St Kilda for their medium-long term future.

Agreed. Only time will tell if these kids are good enough to go deep into finals (in the future obviously as I think we aren't headed there for 2-3 years), but signs are good:
Saad, Milera, Stanley and potentially Siposs are exciting forward prospects.
Steven and armo are good midfield additions.
Simpkin is a good backline addition. We're still short one big key defender and that will only be compounded by Blake's retirement soon.

That passage of play where him and Stanley whisked it up the ground on a 100m sprint and scored a goal was amazing. Just absolutely amazing.

To think saints got saad and milera for next to nothing is a steal. They downgraded pick 20 to 25 in a trade with gws.

Well done saints.

Will make it tough for Schneider if he keeps that up.

Which is great for the Saints.

How bloody exciting are he and Milera?

Just loving going and watching them play each week.

Milera just has so much time to do what he wants with the ball it's not funny (and then has the skills and vision to follow through with it) and one of the things that has impressed me so much about Saad in the two games he's played is that he's not only exceptionally quick across the ground (and I mean lightning quick), but he also seems to think and react just as fast, and also keep his feet really well, which is fantastic plus. Throw in his goal nous and the tackling and chasing and pressuring that he was renowned for and he pretty much ticks every box, for someone playing in a forward pocket. Can also kick it a long way (55m) for someone so small.

The other thing about him is that he hadn't been playing all that well in the VFL so far this year, apparently, so he may not be at the peak of his form yet. Many at St K were pretty surprised he got a game last week, as he hadn't been anywhere near as good in the VFL so far this year as he apparently was last year. So I look forward to seeing how he goes once he's really in top nick and once he has a few games under the belt and is used to the pace of it. Also remembering that this is reportedly only his 4th full season of playing Aussie Rules footy, having been in Egypt till he was 16 or so.

It could end up genuinely being one of the all time best trades. We effectively got Milera, Saad and Sebastian Ross (who has been doing well in the VFL so far and we have really high hopes for) for pick 20. Amazing work by Pelchan!

And to think GWS has "rights" to both of them! How good do they think their list is if they let both of them go for a draft pick just 5 higher in the draft!?

He and Milera give the Saints the speed they needed. It's a bonus that they're young and have only played 9 games between them.

Saad is Lovett but better and has a disciplined head on his shoulders instead of a dick.

Great pick up for the future. :thumbsu:

Indeed. We've needed some serious speed for years (probably since Aussie Jones retired) and we tried to get it with the Lovett trade, but obviously that didn't work out.

Looks like we've got some now though (including Jack Steven and Rhys Stanley, who is super fast and 202cm) and it's great to watch at last!

That goal he kicked tonight ducking and weaving and selling candy was an absolute ripper. If it was Cyril everyone would be froffing over it.

Saad plays a little bit like Eddie Betts moreso than Milne.
In one passage he cut through the Carlton defense with ease only to have the ball knocked from his hands at the last second. That made me realize how bloody quick he is. It seems like the speed and skill level of AFL over the VFL suits him well as he wasn´t performing as good as expected at the Zebs but he doesn´t look out of place at AFL level. The match was a fast , freeflowing game and this suits him it seems. It will be interesting to see how he goes in the more congested matches and how he copes against pure shutdown opponents. So far , Soooo good Ahmed. I can´t wait to see him play next week, an exciting prospect this guy is.

At the time I thought it was a great deal, three players for one 2nd round pick in a compromised draft. If just one became an OK player it would have been a win. After all it is not as if dropping from 20 to 25 is a big deal.

But all three may end up being guns. :D

Part of the youth wave that has really injected a heap of enthusiasm in a side that people said had lost the hunger after 09/10.

Really makes them a very dangerous side again if they put in on a consistent basis.

While I always had a form of respect for Lyon, St Kilda are a really likeable team in 2012. Their squad just screams "go for me!".
The addition of Saad, Milera and Wilkes to the forward line is working absolute wonders. Watters has revitalised the Saints.

Infact, just about every team is likeable in 2012  So many great contests, Vlad's comp is coming into fruition. 2012 is the AFL's party year, we'll be raving about this season in the future.
