Geelong were highly successful in 2007 and 2009 when Hinkley was senior assistant to Mark Thompson.
And Ken was the one who pinoneered the Cats “through the guts as quick as possible with high risk” style.
Defenders pushed up super high which meant a wave of runners coming through.
Only problem is it leaves you open for counter attack.
That style went away when more zone came in but it’s made a comeback as footy rule changes have made it much more man on man again and prioritising winning your one on one’s.
Ken still runs that same style that 2007 Geelong did…just don’t know if Port have the talent of that 2007 Cats side (9 AA players across the park including at the time 2 soon to be Brownlow medallist’s) to be as effective when it counts.
