Hinkley could have done the honourable thing and walked away like Leon Cameron did knowing that he could not take the current playing group any further.

But he doesn't believe that. 'Give me another crack'. He believes he can do it & so does Koch (& probably others).

It's been known for a while that some players and ex players don't like Hinkley, some don't care and some love him. How many of us have bosses and managers we hate but keep getting paid.

The club’s obsessive attachment to this guy is just something i can’t fathom.

If he stays on anywhere at Alberton, the toxicity will linger also as Hinkley’s shadow will remain.

And what a way to take out the new coach at the knees and undermine him from the get go.

Port Adelaide constantly surprise me with their ability to plummet to new depths of stupidity.

Yep but after watching the club post 2015 nothing surprises me in regards to their disgraceful decision making regarding Hinkley. We will never be rid of this STAIN.

Where is this keep Ken on in some type of Director of Coaching narrative coming from? Surely the last person you want in that role is someone with his record. Especially the long term record against top teams and overall finals performance. That would be the last person I would like to impart wisdom to others at the club.

Nah lil is right it's a weird time to go on this NZ 'personal growth' trip it's mainly done in the off-season by other coaches.. campaigner only wants to go when he's on the clock or the club is happy his ugly mug isn't around for a chunk of preseason.

He literally sat laid back on a deck chair, arms folded as a spectator during a pre season game one year when he was still fairly new to senior coaching. So taking a week off in January when he is transitioning out of a role and handing more responsibility to his successor is probably not as bad.
