Bruce: “Jenkins….haven’t called his name all day!”
Bruce: "The state of South Australia will be in mourning tonight."

Not all of us Bruce - many of us were in stitches.

This notion of "who are you gonna get who is better" from Kane & Rucci is nauseating, fukc me forget the name coaches on the market there are assistants at other clubs now that will be the premiership coaches of the future how is it any more of a punt than keeping on a 10 year failure.

This is textbook abusive relationship behaviour though. They stay with what they know, even though they know they aren't good for them and are in fact hurting them because they believe there is nothing better out there.

I was thinking about the cycle of game styles the other day.

It seems to go around and around.

Right now we are in the

1. Free flowing attacking phase (Geelong, 7, 08, 09, 10, 11). We did this in 13/14

That is typically followed by

2. Flooding/slingshot (Sydney/West Coast, 14, 15, 16) We tried this in 16,17,18.

As teams realise that if they stick a couple of extras behind the ball and teams blindly rush it towards them they can hurt them on the rebound

That is then followed by

3. Possession game (Hawthorn 13,14,15)

As teams realise that if they are patient when teams flood back they can maintain possession and pick their way forwards.

Then followed by

4. Frontal pressure (Richmond 17,18,19,20) We tried this in 200, 21, 22.

As teams realise that if they apply enough pressure to the possession teams they can make them turn it over and then hurt them on the rebound with turnovers high up the ground.

And then back to free flowing/attacking (Melbourne 21,22).

As you can see the problem with Ken's reign is he has always been copying the trends 0-3 years behind and is therefore getting beaten as the game has already moved on (bar maybe 14 and 20 when we almost got there).

Sydney/West Coast were probably in the same boat in 14, 15 and 16.

Geelong, Hawthorn, Richmond and Melbourne on the other hand were ahead of the curve and therefore won flags.

Anyway the point being (despite wanting to share a theory I have been mulling over) is that Lyon's flooding/slingshot game style is probably the answer to Melbourne's all out attack and could well be the next evolution if the game (especially as the stand rule has invalidated the frontal pressure game teams like us are trying to play).

If you see a post on Facebook, just ask them what Hinkley's strengths are as a coach. We've had 10 years, plenty of exposed form. What's he good at? Why is he better than the likes of Buckley or a highly rated assistants?
They'd probably talk the same shit as Koch.

oh he's had us contending for 10 years, he changed the club, why do you think players want to re-sign here blah blah bullshit.

Sack Hinkley it's time for a change.

As much as I don’t like him a Ross Lyon would come in and be exactly what we need - tough love and getting rid of the trash. Might only last 3-4yrs but it would be worth it long term, we need someone to gut the place.

Imagine having a coach who would actually lose their shit in press conferences at umpiring and afl bs. That alone would be worth it.
Not sure about Lyon but we need a no nonsense type for sure.

The happy clappers are the ones who should support the crows.... How the fu** did they end up supporting port?
They all like the show before the home games, you know jump on the band wagon like all the sanfl sewing brigade jumped on the Crowbots.

My mother in law is one of them, I wont even talk Port with her, she goes for something to do and enjoys the pre game circus, she doesn't really care if we win or lose.

It's 3 premierships at any level in 5 years. On current form the AFL and SNAFL sides aren't going to be delivering premierships so the pressure is really on the new AFLW team to deliver.

The AFLW players have one big thing in their favour, they are not in Hinkley's system that hampers the development of young players and causes senior players to regress.
Does Ken get the credit if the women’s or sanfl team wins a premiership?
