Man pictured on a night out with Ollie Wines says sacking hinkley would be mean. Every ****ing campaigner that comes out defending him (who just happens to also be connected to the club in some way) just feeds the machine that wants this gravy train of shitheadry smashed.

We won’t sack him. We will mildly encourage him to explore his options elsewhere and if North or GWS aren’t stupid enough to hire him we’ll quietly let his contract roll into next year.

Then the f*cker will scrape into finals in 8th position and Koch will extend him as he won’t have the balls to weather the flak from sacking a finals coach.

"@michelangeloruc called in to have his sprout the propoganda he is employed by PAFC to say on Ken's future

Whilst he talks about "the noise" he is much more equivocal about Ken's future than you would expect.

The outrage on Twitter is amusing. This kind of thing is so common around the world when sports fans are disgruntled by a coach/board etc. Australian sports fans are soft.
It's a funny one. I've watched football (soccer before someone corrects me) my entire life as well as the AFL and I've seen protests, banners, near enough riots to get owners & managers out in football, but one sticker triggers some AFL fans.

It's a sheltered sport here in comparison the reaction to the sticker has amused me all morning

I remember when Port chose not to renew Russell's coaching contract and brought back John Cahill. The marches at the Lighthouse from the retain Russell faction and all the talk of how the supporter group would be forever split.

Just under 12 months later and with the 1988 premiership in the bag, everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet. And just in case there was any doubt, Jack did it again in 1989 and 1990.

I still chuckle at the bloke who was pictured in the Alberton carpark snapping his membership card in half when news broke that Jack’s Back had become John’s Gone circa 1998.

They’ll just send you a freshie in January, fella!

Kornes couldn't help himself and took a swipe at Primus at the end of his show this morning.

Said something along the lines of 'I hope Port Adelaide fans respect Ken Hinkley whatever happens at the end of the year. 2011 3 wins and 2012 5 wins, he's been a fair upgrade on Primus.'

Imagine if old mate Hinks was forced to coach under the same conditions as Primus was?
If Primus had had the players at his disposal that Hinkley has had, he would have been a dual premiership coach.

Koch on 5AA in short:

  • still confident in the list, we have depth and it keeps evolving;
  • the footy programme will be assessed at year end, just like every year;
  • still need to improve although we've had a lot of injuries;
  • frustrated at the Saturday game and "a lot of decisions didn't go our way";
  • we have a talented list, a strong program, and the list and footy dept are sticking together. You would worry if you had a team that didn't play for each other, that fell apart, that no confidence in their coaches, and if there is disconnect in aforementioned. Saturday's game showed no disconnect, the players played for each other and the coach(es);
  • Asked whether where we are at is a combination of bad luck or bad management, he replied "a little bit of both";
  • we haven't taken our chances and have showed no consistency. We've gone from best intercept side last year to one of the worst this year.
  • we've missed Lycett, but Finlayson has surprised with his development. Charlie Dixons passion had been missed in the early part of the season and has shown to be the key to the side.
  • ultimately we are good football side who must play more consistently for longer at our best.

Might have missed something but that's the gist of it. No question on the future of the coach and more tellingly there was no mention of "Kenny" but the more neutral coach or coaches.
Time to put up some Sack Koch signs, as well as Sack Hinkley signs.

I've seen this mentioned a couple of times on here and I am struggling to see the relevance to our situation now. The Russell faction? I mean WTF. Russell was universally loved by every true born in the blood Port person. It has no relevance to Stinkley at all

I was more reacting to a tweet I saw that claimed the Sack Hinkley proponents were damaging the supporter base or link between the club and support base.

made me think back to another time when we were told the support base would be riven by a particular stance. It's unsurprising how winning unites a group. ;)

Ken will still be our coach in 2023.
