Calling a random number on the internet? You all are either a bunch of boomers or Mumbai call centre operators.
You are missing out m8

So much this. My daughter is asking me why we won't be going to the footy next year. It's going to be hard not to cave, but what other option do we have given members have zero power in relation to the Board and direction of the club?

For what it's worth, I would go to the footy if my kids said they want to go, I would do it for them and enjoy their company

I don't want to talk down his achievements, but really he was blessed with the likes of Hodge, Mitchell, Franklin, Roughead, Gunston, Rioli, Lake, Burgoyne and you can keep going forever. Account for #freekickhawthorn and winning a few Preliminary Finals by less than a kick and that's an amazing position to be in. He had players with freakish abilities, sublime skills and a tough mentality.

Won't be at all comparable to what he'll face at North Melbourne and this will be a true test of his coaching ability. I know the general feeling around this thread is that he's the messiah and we missed the world's biggest opportunity, but I don't see it that way. We go and get the best highly rated coach in waiting next year and we'll be fine.
Well North will get pick one again, plus last years pick 1, plus a PP as I am sure that was part of the secret offer to entice him. To be fair, North need all the help they can get.

He took over a Hawthorn team that was pretty bad too. He got these young talents and nurtured them into men and winners of 4 flags. I don't know how you can downplay his ability as a coach. He didn't arrive at Hawthorn and it was all in place for him, he shaped it.

The sheer number of premierships is a product of good luck re priority picks and also the massive advantage of 3 of the 4 premierships being won at their home ground against higher qualified opponents denied hosting rights by the ridiculous MCG grand final thing. But there's no doubting overall that he's a good coach.

Insane young talents that they were in a position to draft, yes.

Regardless, someone forgot to tell him that it's not the SANFL and it's a tough competition where someone has to lose. Who does he think he is walking away with those 4 trophies?

A few posts ago you were talking about the massive home ground advantage shared by Victorian teams, so we all have our perspectives.

I never claimed he wasn't a good coach, just that he was blessed in certain ways

If your post was purely to point out that Koch and Ken have loser mentalities, then I think that's been well covered.

Clarkson took on a vastly superior Geelong in a GF and instilled a tactic and huge amounts of discipline into his team to kick it through their own goals for a point to prevent Geelong getting a run on. Turned the GF into a pretty crappy spectacle. The crowd booed the Hawthorn players. But he got them doing that so they could win. Shows a lot of leadership.
The AFL changed the rules after this.
No one really talks about the tactics at the game anymore, and who gives a shit really, they won.
Imagine Hinkley trying to pull off a plan like that. Hinkley ideas (for example kick it into the pocket and try and dominate the stoppage) and poorly thought through and poorly implemented.

I don't think anyone is expecting North to make the 8 next year. But I'd be surprised if they finish in the bottom 4 again.

How confident are you that Hinkley wins a flag with those "insane talents" in his 4th year?

He won the first flag with plenty guys drafted before him.

Insane I classify Franklin in that, which form memory was still a pup in the 1st gf. The others were quality footballers that he shaped.

North are years and years away from a Premiership. We haven't seen teams as bad as North and West Coast since us and Melbourne in 2011/12. They are not getting four hall of famers in a short timespan and Clarkson's last premiership was 7 years ago. He's not some magical cure.
Man this makes me depressed to think Melbourne was as sh*t as us and now has some silverware and we have diddly sh*t. I actually forgot Melbourne was even worse than us around that time.😭

Feeling sad today

I don't think the club gets how serious this is for a lot of people, certainly for me. I am a man of my word and when I am gone I am gone and may not be back.... fifteen hundred in tickets and a few in merch...gone.

From what I can see there has been absolutely no effort made to understand, communicate or address concerns not just at the coaching level but the general direction of the club. It appears as if there is no acknowledgement that there are any issues beyond meh we didn't do good we gonna be better. Are we so out of touch, or are they that stupid or they just don't care? ( I know the answer thanks).

Very sad thinking that barring the unexpected after 40 years of making Port my goto from March to September (and most other months) that Saturday will be it.

Sad that it has come to this and that there appears to.be no other alternative to be listened to. No other path except for withdrawing support.

Saddest thing is so many with so much love for the club have and are walking away while the club does nothing.

Will probably log off this place but will leave it a week or so hoping for a miracle.

All that is left is a possible final post flurry where I share my thoughts on the true clique and those that should seek immediate intervention in their lives...

Nicks is right
Why? Suck it up. It means bugger all once they get onto the field. It is hardly going to make the crom players try harder. If I were Nicks, I would be more concerned with his joke of a football club which requires a doce of humility. They think their shit doesn’t stink, yet they have constantly brought SA football into disrepute. Hardly a blight on the game are the comments of a couple of Port players in comparison.

I love this photo, shows Clarko is a ripping bloke. Has Daddy Donuts ever done this?

Has he ever been asked?

The whole thing has been an exercise in pure cringe that probably has Chad Cornes' fingerprints all over it.

I would suggest it has the makings of Koch (pure speculation on my part), in order to drum up some hype for a dead rubber Showdown, and an attempt to appease the hardcore supporters.

Additionally, Ollie Wines said it with such little conviction that you can tell he doesn't really believe what he is saying.

We beat Melbourne by 9 goals in mid 2020. Since then they've gone top, and will be playing in September, while we've made choking in prelims our speciality, and the best we can hope for this year is 11th!!!
