Some colleagues and I have been coordinating to all try a new one of these each Friday night, so I've tried a lot of these weird limited run batches. There are definitely some weird and wonderful flavours of beer going on out there at the moment. Some are surprisingly good but others I can't finish - very hit and miss. Just be prepared for a bunch there you may end up tipping out.

I find most chocolate or coffee flavoured beers to be horrid, but some of the fruit sours are surprisingly good. There are a few variations out there but I had a pavlova one that was incredible - and I've also had one from another brewery that tasted like rotten passionfruit. So expect the unexpected haha.

I'm not a bit fan of any novelty beers I realised. Sours make it taste like someone made you a shandy with passionfruit soft drink. I like fruity hops but I don't want beer to taste like juice and those chocolate ones aren't my thing either. A good IPA is great, no need to put caraway seeds and orange peel in it IMO.

There's a good little bottle shop in Richmond that sells some really weird stuff.

Mate how good is that???
Awesome stuff.

Couple of years ago i went to the season opener , Carlton , Richmond with some mates and stayed over in Richmond.
The day after we all went on the CUB tour.

I know its not necessarily the best beer ever , but i have to say the tour and the talk about beer making was good.

First time i realised this stuff was the real deal as well.

I had the opposite experience when I went to Germany when I was younger, the guys I worked with took me to some old brewery that was established by monks in some ancient time and had these big copper boilers with a million patches on them still in use and producing small batches of beer. After that Carlton products seemed to lack a bit of something real about them.

On places to try beers the Local Tap house in St Kilda is good to try a few of those craft beers without the commitment.

That tank beer was nothing like i'd tried from Carlton before.
Most of their beer is pasteurised at high temperature.

The tank beer is kept cold in refrigerated trucks and tanks.

What's everyone on? I'm 8 Peroni's down, haven't drank in a couple weeks so a few more and that'll be me all guns blazing.

Might need to restock later, only 4 left

I was going to have a glass or two of wine but my son has a headache so just on the beers nothing special just a fridge full of left overs and a slab of vb.
