Real confidence issues for the Saints...Stems strait from Captain Riewoldt.. Need a change and fast if they are to get back to the top....

Will win some games but won't really challenge... so glad I don't follow em...

GO CATERS!!!

I want the Saints to be up there. They deserve a Flag like we got in 07 and 09. Shit. Would you prefer the Pies to walk it in again this year. I am a mad Cat but I don't begrudge the Saints winning one.

You know it's not even the team itself that I am feeling so much contempt for, it's the moronic fans of the saints suffering that is giving me the schadenfreudes. That stench of entitlement that we've had to endure since about 2004, finally seems to be lifting. And to think how much help Geelong has gifted them - King, Gardiner, Gamble, Leigh Tudor, I think they took Wheadon from us this year too...

We think the same here, but it will not be complete or set in concrete this year until we beat them again. 2x in one year is a rarity against St Kilda. I still believe they are not done with, but it is getting inexorably close.

And Gamble will become an important player for them!;)

What was that bet you have with David again?

You reckon the fat lady has sung? I hope so, but not convinced YET.
The bet will involve me buying his Varcoe support next year if I'm wrong, which looks very likely.

I'm so bloody proud of this Geelong team, and I take great satisfaction in seeing the Saints & Bulldogs struggling outside the 8!

It pissed me right off all pre-season, everyone talking up St Kilda and W Bulldogs as serious Flag chances, while Geelong are just gonna slip away without a whimper. Too old, too slow.....

Never write off a champion team!

Disappointed for guys like Hayes, Riewoldt who give their all week in and week out and deserve a flag more than some of those Magpies, and I even feel sorry for a select few of their longer suffering fans, but as for the new breed of "Saints Footy" fanboys and girls, don't give them a moment of my sympathy. The club were excessively arrogant in the 03-05 Thomas era and got what they deserve with no flags to show from an era they wanted to make their most successful ever.

Shit thread. Shit attitudes.

I surely won't forget their 2009 H/A season for a while. Fantastic execution of a game plan over the course of many games. They didn't win a flag for it, but so what.

Whatever.

Considering this thread exists the only reasonable explanation is that a few of you are extremely worried about the Saints making the finals.

Given our percentage we probably only need 10 wins out of remaining 16 games - very probable!!

Doubt there would be many teams wanting to face the Saints in finals

Either way really nice to know:thumbsu:

To think at the beginning of the year all the "experts" had Geelong sliding down the ladder - no Ablett, no Bomber, too old, had their time at the top.....and most said the Saints were good enough to have another tilt. THEY WERE ALL WRONG, so far at least.

Yup, thats the exact same reason I hate the saints.
The arrogance of their supporters in claiming they are the better side than us amid the fact that they never have anything to show for it!! The above post from Hanis is a prime example!!

It was at the point where I went to the drawn GF last year and was seriously torn as to what team to go for - yes I said it, torn between barracking for StKilda and bloody COLLINGWOOD!!!!

I think that it really has bred a new rivalry akin to the bombers v carlton v collingwood one.

Quite wrong. The thread is because the two teams had a long period without a flag (63 & 66) and then rose to the top at the same time. Remember 2004? Both pipped at the prelim. Then both came back and the cats got two flags, saints zip. There was real rivalry between the two teams and it seems the saints window has slammed shut. Couldn't raise a sweat if we played the saints in the finals, but it's a bit hard to see that happening at this stage.

Pretty much. Don't forget how much the entire football media drooled over them from 2002 onwards, remember the phrase "best list ever"? Perfect evidence that high draft picks don't all become superstars (Xavier Clarke picked before Bartel :D), and sound recruiting and development is a much better thing to have.

What else, oh yes putting up with their supporters telling you a player who cries on the field is tough, that the endless horrible games they're involved in are not their fault, and so on and so on.

What I am most disappointed in is the way Lyon has been speaking.
I've actually grown to like him.

But all he is trotting out is the usual monotone sentences which include 'process' etc.
There is no anger or urgency. He is giving saints supporters nothing.

It's like he believes that talking in riddles is intelligent. I hear he thinks they got something out of last nights game and that Riewoldt was good.
I think he might be living in fairy land.

Not neccessarily. The Saints lack of form is just a discussion point, considering that they were considered to be potential GF finalists at the start of the year. St Kilda are a great side, but they would have to seriously increase their form by a vast margain for anyone to be that scared of them.
