The players are feeling good.. our list is in good shape.. we have great facilities and a top notch coaching crew still on board.
Good times ahead.

And these rumours about players breaking contracts.. I can pretty much confirm that NONE are our core players.. hearing rumours that there are a maximum of 5 players looking into this option (most could probably guess two of them!!) and mainly because they aren't getting opportunities..

Hooker, Carlisle, Ryder, Hurley, Crameri, Stanton, Hocking, Heppell, Goddard, Zaka, Hibberd, Melksham, Derpinator, Watson, Bag's, Winderlich, Myers are all LOCKED in... so that is well over half the team and most of the stars confirmed...

I am not saying these are the only ones.. but these are the ones I know have publicly and definitely reassured the club that they will be here next year and ready to take a crack at the flag.

I think there are still 10-12 AFL Clubs that would LOVE a crack at having our list..

Jetta would be one i reckon.

Crameri locked? I assume you meant Gumbo and TBC as the two?

Hey rines, with respect to the bolded part above, are these players looking at requesting a trade, or actually breaking their contract and walking as per what the AFLPA are trying to get put in place?

Anyone out there with some good legal knowledge?
I'm wondering if there is any recourse for appealing the sanctions if Doc Reid wins his case?
I'm wondering if there just might be some smooth legal maneuvering happening here?

Wait for the ASADA report to finalise and then appeal length of suspension? Hmmm..

I'm going to be so happy when this thread gets locked.

Honestly, after a couple of days for people to vent and ponder I see no need to keep it open.

Discussion then moves towards what we can do during trade weeks and free agency to prepare for an assault on 2014.

I'd like to take this opportunity to once again thank Peter Jackson for being the CEO for over a decade where the club fell so far behind the competition in every way & we were left with a legacy of the worst facilities in the league & a shambolic administration. Your circle of failure is now complete.

And the investigation moves onto Melbourne...

we may as well leave it open because from time to time there'll still be articles that should go in here as opposed to having their own threads created. however the thread shouldn't become a social centre that we all just hang out in. Starting from the near future, if no recent news is being discussed, the posts should be deleted.

All I know is that one day some where some time another team is going to heck up, and when they do we will be all over them like flies on sh1t. It may not happen for ten years but be assured the EFC, members and supporters have long memories so don't bother coming to us for support.

Yup. A lot of other clubs and the AFL themselves. Effectively as I see it, we ****** up. No doubt there. But we put ourselves in a position where legally the entire competition was at threat and despite what many would have you believe, the EFC cannot be what they are without the AFL competition. So we've taken a punishment, we still get Jake Long next year, we'll still have ANZAC day and I genuinely believe we'll get a pretty good fixture next year too, after all we're not a top 8 side this season ;)

Also, based on the AFL's dealings with Melbourne we should expect to receive any fine paid back with 400% interest so that's a bonus $8M to donate to the flightplan.

Maybe this was a secret part of the deal?!

Yeah no one engage in casual conversation or enjoy themselves.

We have not had any comments from rfctiger74 since this all went down and tbh I have appreciated his input in the past due to his respect to us and his ability to have a logical discussion in relation to this

Haven't been avoiding you guys - I just know you are all red raw right now, so I wanted to give you some space.

TBH I'm still digesting this, but this is my take:

- I still maintain this is all backwards. As Gilligan confirmed, depending upon what ASADA say, we could all be back here again in four months time, which is a complete and utter joke. The decision should have been made on the final report, with all available information and facts.

- My vibe from the presser though is this is likely to be it for club sanctions. I don't know if a deal has been done with ASADA, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is an "understanding". IMO you guys got hit with overs if this is for governance only.

- On the deal, hmmm. My initial reaction was there isn't much in it for you, so go to court FFS. Thinking about it since then, I suspect you got some concessions for Hirds 12 months. The backdating by a few days, allowance for him to "mentor" at the club, the VFL turnaround, the VERY soft suspension for Corcoran, and the allowance to trade in (and I'm assuming FA?) are all wins for you. Still a heavy price to pay, which is why I wonder if some assurance of no further club penalties post ASADA has been made (ex officials and players of course).

- Personally I think certain officials got off very lightly, and if Hird is given 12 months I still dont get how Corcoran gets 4 (and have massive doubts now that the others involved in this mess will ever be charged at all). On Hird, on what came out I was expecting 6-12 for him, but I thought it should have been a full season and no access. That being said, I think people have massively underplayed how serious losing both points and picks is. Personally I would have smashed one, and hit some of the officials harder. Also I would have had you under a control order where the AFL effectively runs your supplement program for 5 years, but thats me :)

- Baffled on Doc Reid. Bomber gets a fine, Corcoran a very soft penalty, and the AFL is refusing to deal with him? Of all the people in this mess I thought would get some kind of deal it was him. He made his mistakes, but are the AFL seriously wanting to kill the guys private practice? Reword the charge, move him on from AFL if you really want, but there is no need to cripple him.

- I HATE HATE HATE the way the commission "hearing" was done. The idea that the commission can negotiate a settlement without hearing even a brief defence from the parties involved just baffles me. I've been banging on about due process, and in the end I'm still disappointed how little respect due process has been given.

- No one wants this to go on, so I suspect the Vlad interference will be allowed to rot and die. The interesting one will be the story according to Hird. Will he talk? It appears there is no gag on him, but once the dust settles will he want to dredge it all up again? Really not sure on this.

- I think the damage from this is definitely recoverable. The picks is the major one, but smart trading and FA can keep you in touch. On the money, just keep going to games, keep buying memberships. It will be a lot of red ink for a few years, but you guys will recover. I think your ability to compete in 2014 will be down to who your interim coach is, and which players (if any) want out of the club

- On ASADA, I'm still of the belief that they are hanging now on Dank. Honestly don't know if any players will be whacked, but other than Dank I cannot see what else is holding up this report.

On you guys, you have had a year from hell, and one no one would wish upon anyone (except a few on the HTB who still live with their mums despite being 45). I'm hoping this is your nadir, so it will all be uphill from here. Look forward to seeing actual footy with you guys on Saturday night
