News Sam Hayes signs for North Melbourne VFL

Hayes has achieved nothing and most probably won’t be on a AFL list next year.
As I said before if you care to read there’s more than just form that’s stopping Hayes from getting a game.
I don’t believe the BF BS it’s because Ken hates him.
He’s not even first choice for the Magpies going by the trail game against the crows.
If he’s as good as you think he is he would have been the main show in ruck in a SANFL trail game at the beginning of the season.
We can all guess why but nobody knows the real answer why he’s out of favour.

He was the single most dominant SANFL ruckman of the past several years. He came back from an ACL and immediately started dominating. He was a dual AA U/18 ruck. It was said by most pundits we were lucky he slid so far. He has beaten or matched it with seasoned AFL rucks and demolished a few that were at a similar stage of development. The only point in his career that he has gone backwards is after Hinkley put a line through him mid last year when he picked a nobody mid-season played him off zero games, then when he got injured first game, played no ruck for pretty much the entire 2nd half of the season.

I genuinely don't understand why he's still here. He needs to sack his manager.

I suspect we would have actually wanted something for him. I would have thought him as a DFA last year would be a no brainer for at least some clubs. If we were asking for pick 40-45 because of the 'investment' I can see 17 clubs telling us to take a hike. It would be embarrassing if we were still fielding no ruck, while we traded him away for nothing under contract. Easier to just have him hiding and saying he's not upto it.

Hayes would have a career if we delist/trade him. Player treatment under Hinkley can be diabolical.

Facetiously referring to Frampton as " the Big Show" when he was still on our list. Refused to play him. Can only imagine the satisfaction that win where Collingwood dummied us when Hinkley's career is on the line would have been for him.

Ladhams grows up supporting Port, gets selected and then dumped when Hinkley decides he's done with him. That game last year where he lost it against us shows how much he hates us now. Would ****ing love that attitude on field. Wants to win, hates to lose.

So in summary your saying we are lucky he slid for us to get him.
He’s the most dominant ruck in the sanfl and he has beaten or matched it with seasoned AFL rucks.
But he’s not worth a third round pick for any AFL club.
So to sum up he’s very good but no club wants him unless they get him for nothing.
Interesting thoughts maybe that’s why he’s still at Port I guess being on a AFL list for basic money even if not playing is better than a country footy contract.

A member of my family knows a member of the Ladhams family. Loved the club (hopefully still does). Hated Ken.

Some posters keep asking why Hayes didn't get traded if he's so good. He simply wasn't on the table for trade. Chris Davies said as much during trade week. If Sam Hayes got traded and then absolutely smashed the Lycett/Teakle combination, the gig would be up. Instead Ken the nasty old prick hides him away in the SANFL sides forward line.

As for the trial game, not once was Sam put up against Lycett in the ruck. Not even for one contest. Anyone with 1/2 a functional brain will know exactly why.

I'm a Ken Basher

But the conspiracy theory of
We will keep Hayes and not trade him, nor will we play him

That way people will not realise I'm a shit coach allowing this good player to waste away in the 2s

Is huuuge reach.

Why would the number 2 ruck need to ruck against the 3rd/4th ruck in line?

Yeah not playing him in the middle in the SANFL is criminal.

Hes a #1 ruck or nothing and he needs to be in the middle running all day to develop not loping around in a pocket.

1. Lycett didnt do ok against mcinerny, Oscar beat him easily. And Oscar is one of the lesser rucks in the comp.

2. He’s not struggling against mobile rucks, he’s struggling against all rucks. Tap rucks. Mobile rucks. Good rucks. Average rucks.

3. “The competition has moved away from slow immobile rucks”

This is the greatest myth.

The best three rucks in the league right now are freos darcy, Gawn and Witts.

Not English Marshall and Rhys Stanley.

Clubs turn to mobile rucks when they can’t find a good high end tap ruck who can develop a tank and run.

Darcy Gawn and Witts are basically clones of the best rucks of the past 40 years. Just at port alone as an example they’re not more mobile than primus lade and brogan, just training in a more professional era, but not more agile, athletic or mobile.

4. Why are we investing time into teakle? Because Hinkley doesn’t value the ruck, and he wants to turn it into another midfielder.

Hinkley is wrong, as we’ve all noted about sooooooo many times, he’s tactically a dud coach. He’s got one trick, he’s personable with the players, and that buys faith to a point. But we all know, as has been proven time and time again, he’s just tactically inept.

5. Your solution to our problem is to pump more games into a past it ruck who’s getting beaten by every ruck he comes up against, and sometimes to play a key position forward who gets beaten by every ruck.

Your solution leaves us In a massive hole where we suck in the ruck all year, any team that can exposes this, and coming into 2024 a new coach has no interest in lycett who’s ooc and likely to be let go, Hayes is delisted and we’re left with the worst ruck unit in the afl by some margin… the worst ruck unit we’ve ever fielded in the afl and gotten no games into the future of our ruck.

We might as well set fire to the joint.
So what you're saying is that we are Ruck Suckers?

Or perhaps, more pertinently, we're Ruck Sucking ****ers? 😧

Because he didn’t want Lycett to run into him with his swinging legs and arms?

If you look closely Ken was on the grassy knoll when JFK went past🤪

I had this thought last night .... What if Kenneth was playing Hayes in different positions in the SANFL to develop and round out others parts of his game? This could be a brilliant move to get Hayes ready for the AFL, perhaps to play him as a second resting ruckman!

Then I woke up!

Ken knows Hayes is good
Plays him out of position so no other club is interested
Leaves next year to coach another club and gets Hayes as a delisted player Hayes dominates and Kenny is classed as brilliant all the while laughing knowing he also screwed port over by giving Dbj a long contract

I've heard similar from people who work at the club

Now that’s thinking outside of he box.
Maybe Port Adelaide is making there own remake of Stephen King’s Misery.
Ken staring as Kathy Bates and Sam Hayes playing James Cann’s role.
“The Truth is out there”🤫

I see one small problem with this otherwise perfect plan
