Mitchell had an influence. He was down on possession, but someone has to keep Ling busy and he got a fair few good touches in the 3rd quarter when the Hawks got on top. He also had a big physical presence in the midfield, effecting 7 tackles.
Mitchell has not dealt out any cheap shots. Gablett had the ball and got caught high in an attempt to evade a fair bump. Shit happens.

Yeah big tough guy Rooke who sniped Xavier Ellis with a cheap shot from behind. And what about Stokes who continously punching Hodge in the ribs before the opening bounce(about all he did may I add).
6 weeks??? we maybe able to reduce it to 0 like the cats did with Milburn who got no penalty whatsoever after being given 4 weeks. Mitchell didn't even make contact to Abletts head and it was nowhere near as crude as what people are making out.
And more Geelong supporters crying about the Norm Smith. Hodge got 11 contested possessions and continously cut off kicks that were directed to Geelong's forwards and played a major role in repelling the 62 inside 50's that the cats had. Also layed 5 tackles and had 88% efficiency and was in the WINNING team.
To win a Norm Smith in a losing team you would have to be a massive standout in comparison to the contenders from the opposing team ie G. Ablett SNR. While Ablett was good there were also a few Hawthorn players that were very close to him with their performance (X.Ellis, B.Sewell, Hodgey) and had every right to win the medal.
Also the way he broke down after he heard the announcement of the Norm Smith Medallist was a disgrace. Alright he was dissappointed about losing the premiership and I understand the tears over that but just like the Brownlow he was also so worried about personal achievements that it ended up looking like it was all about him when he broke down again.
