Oh God, i wake up to this?! :( F*ck me.

I hope this is not true, but jeez it doesn't look good; the AFL wouldn't put it up without some consideration.

Side by side, Collingwood fans. Let's just wait and see, and hope it doesn't affect the rest of the playing group.

I think the chances of each sample differing in results our pretty much about 1%. When the B sample comes back positive Murray will have to take his whack, a 2 year ban. The club will be left with a tough decision to make regarding his future at the club, but after the Thomas and O'Keeffe drama of a few years ago, l'm not sure the club will want to go through that again.
He is new to our club, was he a illicit drug user in Sydney? we will never know, but he has made the worst decision of his career at a great club, where he had the opportunity to play in a finals series for one of the biggest clubs in the land.
I hope the club support him during this tough period and l am sure they will, but l doubt they will retain him on the list for the next 2 years, during his ban.
What a silly boy!!
I had no problems with the club standing by Thomas and Keeffe.
They were letting their hair down in the off season but unfortunately the stuff they were using was cut with a banned substance.
Assuming the facts we have at the moment are correct Murray is doing it on or very close to game day.
I would have no problems with the club politely marching him out the door.

If Murray is at the bottom end of the scale of sins and self bans himself (which it seems like he is doing and probably will not play again in 2018), maybe he gets 12 months off meaning he'll be back in August. That might be enough to save his career.

But given our list management issues already having to carry Dunn Shaz Wells Reid Elliot and others next season, I doubt even in that best case scenario that we have the luxury of carrying another one.

Why would you want a player who would do that so close to game day or even on it?

Both would result in poor performance.

If it was a day or 2 before the crashing and fatigue would be very high, not exactly conducive to performing at an elite level in pro sport is it?

If he did it game day then fair dinkum...by the last quarter he would be shot to shit.

So we Flushed a 2nd Round Pick down the Toliet then
Yes, but a 3rd Round pick floated back up.
Our 2nd Round Pick currently 34 v Sydney 3rd Pick currently Pick 50.
542 points v 273 points.
So we actually flushed 269 points.
Our 2nd Round pick was going to be spent on IQ/Kelly, hence was not going to be a live pick.
But yes, appears as though we wasted 269 points.

I feel for Sammy and hope he gets through this, but why the hell would you risk your career and put the club's season at risk by taking illicit drugs on or close to a match day. What the f*** would you be thinking!! As a member lm so pissed with this, and the club needs to come down hard on him, unfortunately.

I can just see how this pans out. Admits to coke, says he has anxiety and such drug was to help him deal with the anxiety that comes with playing in front of 90k against Richmond, gets a year. Club rookie lists him for a year, ineligible to play in 2019.

I think Cornes is completely and intentionally making this out like it was deliberate performance enhancement. It's more likely to have been something ala the above or lingering from the night prior.

If it’s true...then he has to go...no more 2 year rookie deals.

Career.......blown! Very stupid mistake that will almost certainly destroy his career now and probably effect him for the rest of his life!

Peter Gordon on ABC Melbourne, just made an interesting comment.
He said that:
"If there is insufficient evidence (that he took it within 24 hours of the game) then he wouldn't have a problem, but if the evidence goes the other way then potentially he is facing 2-4 years which is unfortunate."
Murray's legal team will obviously try to establish this 'line'....so to speak.

I dont think it will affect the playing group, considering he has only been at the club this season, but lm sure right now true professionals like Pendles, Sidey, Adams, Treloar etc will be just a little pissed this has happened now, heading into finals. It is a unnecessary distraction, but lm sure the players will sit down and discuss this at some point. I really hope this also dosen't bring any unwarranted attention to Thomas and his case a few years ago now.

Not sure why the club didn't also say in the statement "As a result we have delisted Sam Murray for being a stupid campaigner, we will continue to provide support for Sam on a personal level"
