They aren't performance enhancing on the way down. Anyone can do the research for themselves on coming "down".

From what I have been told he may initially get a rise in performance on game day but it wouldn't last an entire game unless he is topping up at half time.

I'm sure its a lot more technical and scientific than that.

Agree though that if he manages to wriggle out of this by proving the drugs were taken out of the "24 hours before the game" period, then he still has to answer to the club for his behaviour. That might mean being sacked or it might mean a hefty punishment along the lines of JDG early this season. But thats for down the track. Needs to get past the authorities first....if he cant to that then his destiny is written.

If its cocaine i really think his career shouldnt be ended regardless how good/bad of a footballer he is.

As someone Murrays age whos experienced the illicit side of clubbing, i’d be extremely disappointed, and feel very bad for Murray if its over.

Unless he’s racking up lines right before the game, and racking up inbetween quarters, cocaine wont be benefitting him or the team on gameday. Its a quick hitting drug that doesnt have a very long high, so it needs to be bumped regulary.

I’d be filthy if i lost my licence because i tested positive to something i wasnt high on, i could’nt imagine how Murray must feel now.

I swear i heard Libba was caught with Pingers, Speed and Cocaine, where was his 4 year ban?

I’m not trying support cocaine addiction, but i wont be judge someone for using it. Im sure each and everyone who judges atleast knows and respects someone whos had a past with drugs, whether they know about or not.

I don't. He can go get a normal job like the rest of us. Hopefully for his sake he doesn't get caught on drugs because it will be an automatic sacking in the real world. Unlike the AFL industry that feels obligated to stand by them.
Most jobs in the real world don't have drug testing. The ones that do are generally those that involve the safety of others being jeopardised which is not the case for AFL footballers. In any case I have no problem accepting that you're fine with it.

Yeah that’s not true at all but ok.

Libba was face down in a gutter with a pocket full of pingers in the off season.
You're allowed to do all the coke and bikkies you want during their down time.

It is in some professions, many in fact.
Some. Many. Not all as was suggested.

I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve every bit of the punishment but let’s not make things up.

All that is being reported at the moment is that he has tested postive to Cocaine.

Surely it's a performance enhancing drug that has been mixed with Coke, otherwise wouldn't this just be under the normal 1 strike/2 strike/3 strike rule.
Outside of game day it's a strike.
On game day it's considered performance enhancing.
That's my understanding of it.

Well, as a lawyer and a Club President, I reckon he might know a thing or two about the law around this issue.
It's hard for me to believe that any player would be dumb enough to take cocaine (for example), on match day.
I can't understand a player taking it during the week either for that matter, but match day? No.

If Gordon is correct then I think Sam may have a chance........that's me assuming he's not a complete dummy.

So if the ban is implemented, say for 4 years, after the national draft/ Rookie and pre season draft, are we going to have one short on the list, or will the AFL give us a concession to draft in another player onto our list?

No - cocaine is on the WADA Prohibited List. If you test +ve to that "in competition", you get 4 years automatic. The AFL's illicit drug policy is a separate code.
