Did she actually go for a run?

It was suggested earlier that the marriage might have been over. Another poster shared local gossip that SM had been dating.

Forgive me for using those two specks of dust as the foundations upon which to construct a skyscraper, but perhaps SM left that morning not to go for a run, but to meet a third party; her lover, or maybe a casual tinder date. That person killed her, ditched the phone, and subsequently had plenty of time to dispose of the body while under no suspicion.

this crossed my mind as well.

a 20k run, come home and straight into the shower could be a fairly decent cover if the speculation in this thread is to be believed.

Or was abducted on the way to see her lover/date/tinder by someone who was not her lover/date/tinder she was on the way to meet that morning.
Hi all, I’ve joined this forum as I’m really interested in this case and hope they find Samantha. At this stage I think anything’s possible but did have a thought that she might have met up with a online dating scammer who had ill intentions and maybe she was meeting up with them that morning. Unfortunately many people are fooled online. That’s no disrespect to Samantha as they’re very good at what they do. On the flip side she might have been happily married and this isn’t the case.

Make of this what you will, and don’t go and do anything stupid and put yourself at risk but I’m attaching a map provided by tracker Jake.

IF and this is not known for a fact - that the dog met her demise on Eureka St then SM could be in this section.

If she was alive she’d have to be near one of these water courses.

I see there is a Eureka Boarder Kennels on that map.

Maybe when they/Sam went away on holidays, this was sometimes the dogs temporary holiday home.

So with Sam seeming to have gone away, Ruby headed for where she is sometimes taken when Sam is away. (those Kennels)

But if she had gone that way at 7am, (as was originally thought), then the person running past in the CCTV at the boarding kennels WOULD have been SM. As it happens, someone else came forward and claimed it was them.

I wondered that too

In hindsight, probably should have put the dogs in the Kennels for safekeeping as soon as Sam disappeared.
Or put trackers on them and let them loose immediately in a controlled manner. (maybe with an experienced tracker and a long leash).

Nah, sorry Awakening . Tried to look online - I'm not a subscriber to local paper Ballarat Courier, but local radio station 3BA site has nothing, looks like only reference is DM articles, but no mention of location.
There wasn't much in the Ballarat Courier just a bit of info about shops being busier and people walking in pairs. No new news.

We never saw that image, did we?

First time posting in the thread and whilst I've been following the discussion apologies if what i say has been suggested previously.

We've heard that she opted out of a recent family holiday due to Covid, do we know if she'd taken on any runs of the suggested 20km distance between then and her disappearance?
Reason I ask is Covid affects people differently, I had it twice last year and whilst the symptoms werent severe I suffered fatigue and tired doing regular activities in the weeks after.

Whilst having a 4hr window between commencing the intended 20k run and the brunch, could it be that she began to tire early in the run and slow to the point where she decided to venture off track to shortcut her way home to make the brunch and had an accident?

What is the terrain like in the area, would it contribute to slowing someone possibly succeptible to fatigue after recovering from Covid?

Do we know if she had a regular path for a 20k run?
I'd assume a regular runner would have particular routes for specific distances, and if the above scenario could be a possibility, are there any natural or man made barriers that she'd have to navigate that could have led to a fall etc.

People have discussed possible reasons for going off track being an attack or toilet break etc. but could it have been something as simple as taking on more than she could handle under the cicumstance and due to the time restraint of having to be back and ready for brunch leading her to make an unusual decision to attempt a shortcut through unfamiliar terrain?

Thanks for that. I think this is it. Quite blurry but looks similar with blonde hair and brown singlet.

It's not a very good image. That horse must be right over the other side of the road.

This is the boarding kennel.

To my eye, having run with a few of the Ballarat boys of the 90s, the photo of her just prior to her heading out does not show quote “a slim, fit woman” who regularly runs 20k which of itself then implies she runs at least 5k a few days per week in addition to allow her to cope with a Sunday 20k long run. Even if she’s a slow jogger type, her appearance does not match the media description. Perhaps just media hype/bad journalism but if her family actually believed she was doing this as a routine, then maybe her 20k runs were a cover for other activities.
