If this is the case - Man you’d have to be so stupid to “finish the job and hide the evidence”
As if it’s not going to come back to bite you at some stage.
I mean surely anyone would know that the punishment is going to be much more severe for killing someone deliberately.
How could anyone expect to hide that forever!?

If you're off your head, you're probably not thinking too clearly.

Was she still alive when he put her in his car?
My theory is still, he was wasted, he hit her with the car, stopped, panicked and put her in the boot or back of Ute … he thought she was dead? Police have iWatch heart monitoring evidence that she was still alive after the last ping.
Police pressuring him that he is a murderer because the evidence shows she was still alive whilst moving in his car.
She dies when he dumps her body…
That's not consistent with the "deliberate act" statement or the charge of murder.

I have seen a video that was apparently from the night before/morning of the incident but can’t confirm timing (could be a random video from weeks/months ago but is him) but if it is in that time frame he wouldn’t have known what day of the week it was or what is name was after the thickest line of Colombian dancing powder vanished.

If it was that time frame he has done well (certainly not trying to complement) to get his shit together and hide everything.

According to a paywalled news article, they have seized his/a car.

It's unclear exactly whose car was seized in the below.
I'd be surprised if the one reported below was the only car seized so far.

'Police seize car, search Ballarat properties in Samantha Murphy investigation'

'March 8, 2024 - 4:22PM'

Detectives probing Samantha Murphy’s murder have seized a car as part of their investigation.
The Herald Sun understands investigators seized a vehicle on Wednesday as they carried out three warrants in the Ballarat area.

That vehicle is expected to be forensically examined for any evidence that may be linked to the ongoing case.

The vehicle was seized on the same day Mr Stephenson was arrested over Ms Murphy’s death.

A neighbour said they saw police seize a vehicle from the Scotsburn property on Wednesday, but was unsure of the make or model.

The Herald Sun also understands a home on Yendon No. 2 Rd in Scotsburn was visited by police early on Wednesday morning.
...
A Suzuki Jimny — understood to belong to Mr Stephenson’s parter — was parked in the driveway of that home on Friday.
...
The Herald Sun understands Mr Stephenson and his partner were house-sitting in the home as of Wednesday morning.

Again, Police are saying it was deliberate. They wouldn't say that if he was off his face.

Could be because it was used as a weapon or could be because they suspect her body was transported in it.

Going the mental health line is the best chance of getting a reduced sentence or essentially a better deal. Also, there’s no way the guy gets a fair trial. The media intensity has been significant, plus the narrative of a mother being murdered. Irrespective of the jury needing to be neutral, they won’t be. They’ll pin him on anything they can.
What do you mean by a fair trial? Do you mean because there has been a lot of reporting of the case that a jury selected will already have made up their minds?

She dies when he dumps her body…
So at 8am on a Sunday morning he is not too wasted to be driving his ute around narrow winding bush tracks, but he is so wasted that he hits a jogger and fatally injures her, but not too wasted to stop and pick her up and navigate his way to a place where he hides the body and vehicle so as to avoid detection for a month, but so wasted he tells all his mates, but not too wasted to switch his phone off, and grab Samantha's phone and switch it off, ... ???

Deliberately putting an injured person into the back of a car, causing that person to die.
We are all speculating…. But I dont think we are looking for a serial killer here… IMO.

I can still do something deliberately whilst under the influence.

Might not be the best decision but I can still deliberately chose to do it.

Have you ever driven a car completely pissed?

Taking a person to where now?

Yes seems like he had it together enough to know how to try and evade detection.

I'm surprised Sissy could recall all the information she could.

The 28-year-old said she had her headphones with music playing while running along a motorcycle track when a man emerged and attacked her with a makeshift weapon.

"He had a rock tied to the end of the stick," she said.
"I remember he had no shoes, jeans, a cap. He didn't have a top on."
She actually “remembered” quite a lot. Everything except his face. Did she provide a photo fit?

Have you ever driven a car completely pissed?
That depends - are any coppers reading this thread who would chase up a drink-driving offence from 40 years ago?
Just suppose for a moment that I did, and that I hit something like a tree - then I would leave the scene as quickly as possible, and not hang around. If I hit a person I would stop and try to render assistance no matter how pissed I was. If I killed them I would probably panic, but I certainly wouldn't pick them up and put them in my vehicle and drive elsewhere to conceal their body - that would be about the last thing on my mind.
