What a stupid decision. Absolutely ridiculous.

Agree...Looking at the target, lining him up, choosing to bump and connecting with the head causing a player to get concussed. So it's deliberate, high and significant damage...

I wonder if that will only get 1 week for the rest of the season.

So running into a player contesting the ruck with no awareness costs a player a week. Well done tribunal. Griffiths made Kosi look spacially aware. MRP lotto strikes again.

If you watch the replay the other Richmond ruck nudges Sandilands towards Griffiths. Sandilands only did what we had to do to avoid being sandwiched in the ruck contest

Griffiths should blame his teammate tbh

So Sandi watching him and lining up a player with eyes on the ball for a bump was the fault of the Richmond ruckman?

By no awareness you mean eyes on the ball...As opposed to Sandi who was looking at him as he lined him up...

Yep. He was bracing for impact from both sides then got a nudge and protected himself accordingly

So the nudge just happened to put him in exactly the position he was trying to get into to contest the guy he was watching? What freakish luck....

BTW...you wouldn't be interested in buying this bridge I'd got...going cheap...

Spoken by someone who has never rucked. In a ruck contest you have to be aware of your opponent and not just go for the ball. It's not a marking contest. Running reckless into a ruck contest as third man up this is the result.

I am generally on the hang him bandwagon but there was really nothing in it. Someone was trying to jump on him third man up and he blocked him. The force might be there because Sandi is a gigantor but it was nothing more than a block and he got Griffiths high because he is a million foot tall. Is he just supposed to sit there and let people gang up on him and use him as a step ladder so he avoids hurting people in a contact sport? Meanwhile you will see people get a couple of weeks for just smashing blokes like Hodge on Wingard last year because Wingard getting up fine was just sheer luck.

Will be appealed.

Who are on the MRP panel ?.

Any of them ever played in the ruck ?, no I don't mean the "pretty boy" third man up role.

What does Sam Newman, Dean Cox, Simon & Justin Madden think of this ruling ?.

Maybe the Mr Fitzpatrick could get him mind off the revenue ledger and tell us what he thinks.

The AFLs been pretty clear...One player going for the ball, the other watches him come and steps in his way and bumps him high...Gone.

Now we can debate the worthiness of third men up and what can/should be changed about that, but as things stand, 1 week is VERY light for lining a guy up, hitting him high and concussing him.

lol, the other ruck barely touches him. Only really touches his arm.

Sandi knew exactly what he was doing. Not saying he deliberately go him in the head but you can see him lean into the contact.

lol WTF ??

I am all about being a one eye supporter but mate. he saw griffiths entering the contest as a third man, you can clearly see that he eyeballs griffiths, then he tucks the shoulder in, looks at the balls height quickly then looks back at griffiths and lets the contest shove him a little so his shoulder could line up and goes bang.

He should have got 2 weeks period.
