VFL Sandringham v Casey 2pm Saturday @ TBBO

White getting very close to a debut, has been discussed.
DMac should be in the 22 this week.
Hickey may not get up this week, but do we play an out of form and underdone Longer? I want Lew Pierce to debut but a huge ask to carry ruck on his own. Hopefully Hickey improves over next few days.

Are Lee's papers stamped now MG? He seems to be killing it along with Shenton but I assume based on current thinking those two and curren are not going to be around next year and aren't getting a game no matter what they do in the reserves.

Cheers mate

he has shenton and wright kicking to him. god help him

shenton is an excellent kick in the VFL. He stuffs up making poor decisions under pressure in the seniors.

Longer played a lot forward from the 3 quarters I saw - clearly trying to develop his game there as too good to be in the seconds.

Would be miles in front of both Holmes and Pierce.
I thought Pierce was in front of Longer based on the Collingwood VFL game.

Pierce def played better against Collingwood. Longer is experienced though so perhaps he means on that front.

In my opinion Lee should still be in the senior team. I honestly don't know what will happen with him mate.

I think he has everything required to be a star mate. He's got something special.
Never really been a high possession getter though has he? Any idea what makes us so high on him?

Yep, has some tools that are so valuable in today's game. Likely to remain a HBF'r or does he have some midfield (probably wing) capacity? The thing these days is the HBF'rs are so important, so not a bad thing if he doesn't. Webster, D Mac, and White - movement, kicking, defensive mindsets. Nice.

His game against Hawthorn was quite good, though he turned ball over under minimal pressure, for an easy goal from memory. Gilbert & Gears are guilty of the same thing 3 or 4 times in every game this year. As we're in a re-build, & with Chips & Dempster nearing the end, Lee is developing into a handy 3rd tall down back in my view..

He said he considers himself a Dempster role type so high possessions are probably not the marker his game is assessed on. He is close mates with Bailey Rice, hopefully they have a bit of chemistry in a few years. He's seems a very comfortable self assured kid and already looks about 30, He reminds me of a young Steve Martin though which was a bit disconcerting.

Fisher even does it occasionally too. It's the nature of kicking out these days you are really forced to thread the needle with players defending the kick out heavily and it's often the intercept mark they don't see coming. He does seem to have one or two mistakes per game but you don't fix it by playing reserves.

Makes me want to watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

From the very little bit I've seen of White he doesn't really seem like a Dempster type at all, looks more a Grant Birchall type to me. Tall, quick and a lovely long left foot kick, I'm geting very excited about him. Just hope he's not another Murdoch with some nice attributes but can't get enough of it and have an impact at the elite level.

Looks like a high long term potential pick from our recruiters, by all accounts they absolutely loved him and rated him a lot higher than Pick 40.

Bang on the money again! Thinking we promoted Holmes in case Hickey doesn't get up.

Would be great to see White get a game or two this year!

What are your thoughts on possible trade targets Marchbank and Ahern?

Got any favourites in the upcoming draft yet?

Another case of thinking another player is doing better is 3 time worse comp than in the AFL. Longer is really struggling and Hickey has had a great year. I think he is allowed a bad game. Did you seen Gawn struggle last week? Don't think Spencer is replacing him anytime soon.

It was more a comment on how rubbish Hickey was than a tick for Billy

Hey Ghost, appreciate the insight. In your opinion is Murdoch in the mix for selection any time soon or is he not really in discussion?

Would be a shame to end up delisting a bloke with that leg.

He's not far off mate. He's playing his best footy at half back at VFL level, makes it hard to break into the senior team when there's Webster, Savage, Roberton, Gilbert, Montagna etc all playing a similar role at stages.
Really want to see him get 20+ disposals and be an effective one on one defender when required consistently for Zebs to really force selectors hand.

Given the pressure of players like Murdoch coming on, how is Webster feeling? I'd say of all of them, he's probably the most vulnerable at the moment?

I'm not saying Web's going badly - just if other players are pushing, he might be that unlucky good player who gets squeezed out...

Hey mate. There'll be a lot of players from both Suns and GWS that will be playing in Melbourne next year.
Marchbank, Steele, Hoskin-Elliott, Saad, Prestia are all right at top of our wish list. We have/will approach all of these players.
Early rumours floating around Prestia and Dees still like each other, Hawks still into O'Meara, Blues will go hard at Tomlinson again.
There's a couple of players from out west we are into as well. We won't die wondering again this year. We are very open to trading our first for a very good deal, considering we will be outside that top 5 which looks to be strong.
I would give my first born for Will Brodie to be a Saint but he'll be well gone before we have a pick.

If you had to pick a player to go to war with I'd pick Jimmy to be in the trenches with me. That's why he is safe in our side.
The reason Acres keeps getting dropped is the reason why Jimmy is not.

If we could could Marchbank and Steele I'd be pretty happy. If WHE came cheap could be an option?

I wonder who the boys out west are? Are we going back to the Well(er) or after a new Lamb for the pasture. Hope we don't make a Gaff of it!

It's an interesting scenario with the shift in cap space of the franchise clubs and player movement from north spreading back south. It looks to be the natural swing back from the over compensation given. St.Kilda should be well positioned with player finances/payments but the question will be are we a true destination club? It's often difficult to get a clear impression of how we are regarded externally by players and managers alike.
