That's pretty funny, "I'm really high on building strong relationships" from the guy who walked out on his club after 1 year because travel was too hard.

Tbf, screw driving out South to train every 2nd day or so, then to play every 2nd week. I think South is always going to have this problem.

I swear I get more and more confused with the rules. Just give us a list of 15 to 20 top up players with no restrictions. We still won't get the absolute best players because most of the best SANFL players will want to play league every week (something we obviously can't provide) but we'll at least get a good group of experienced players who might want to be under the AFL microscope or what ever.

But if we recruit say 5-10 blokes from SNAFL clubs and 5-10 from interstate, where are the SNAFL clubs gonna get their recruits from?? God forbid they have to dip into their juniors or community footy!

I'm not 100% clear on if we can sign players delisted off an AFL list year or if it's still 2 years without an AFL game.

But Lachie Gollant got delisted from the crows. 29 goals this year at SANFL level, 42 goals in 2023.

Don't be shocked if he gets picked up by an AFL club anyway

Delisted Cat, Mitch Hardie.
Potential top up for us if not picked up by another AFL club?

Mature aged. Big posession winner. Good tackle numbers. Made AFL team of the year.
Trial him in the Magpies to see if he's up to AFL standard?

Would help our younger mids to have someone like that around the reserves full time anyway.

Think he was from Port's original junior zone (now the Deadleg's zone, so they picked him up as a kid I think, then he got drafted, then delisted, and back to Nord) so may have been some attachment somewhere there from a while back.

This is why I wish we still had a reserves side at SANFL level. To keep our players playing together
Maybe we could have an affiliation with Port Districts or something, send the lads not in the SANFL side there.

There is no way he won’t be playing in the SANFL side.
I'll have to check our list numbers after the draft, but if everyone is fit + Nick Moore as well, then he might not get a game.

The odds of that happening is very small though. My concern is, I don't wanna lose guys like Short, Szust and Weids through these new rules. Because I think those guys are first choice selections and they show it.
