SANFL List Management 2024-25

Not official yet but I’m hearing this is what could happen.

Not sure if the pay will change, but we will have the ability to sign players delisted from the AFL straight away, instead of the past rule where they had to not play AFL for 2 years.

Also can sign 6 U21s players and 4 overage players from other SANFL clubs, even if they are best 22. Limited to 1 U21 + 1 overage player per club. The old rule was we could recruit the best ressies players from other SANFL clubs.
So possibly 3 or 4 mature aged ex-AFL players, plus 4 from SANFL clubs, plus 6 under 21's = 14.
Add say 6 or so from our fc xcurrent top up list (Moore, Short, Szust, Weed, Hugh Ferrari, Pascoe, Preston C-C) = 20 top ups.
May get one or two F/S's or Academy kids on short term (4 week) loans as well.

SANFL rules require a max of 17(???) players on the club's AFL list to play each week in the SANFL, so about 4 or 5 top ups minimum can play on any given weekend.

Wouldn't be unheard of to have an injury list of AFL players up to 10 or 12 deep, plus some of our "top ups" may get injured as well. So there could be instances where most of our (available) top ups could play (well at least a dozen of them) in any given week.

There is no AFL listed cap of 17 during the season, that's only for finals.

Would you have a crack at bringing Matt Taberner in to provide a leadership role for our young forwards?

Tom Scully delisted from Ports AFL side.

Would love for him to sign with Westies and then we get him on loan on that SANFL rookie program.

Who is he?

Oh, just googled him. Ex-Essendon VFL player.
Says he signed with North?

He signed for North for the 2024 season. Isn't listed as having played any games.

Was highly rated in the Suns Academy.

This write up is from when Harris joined North at the end of 2023

Name: Austin Harris
Age: 20
Height: 178cm
Weight: 73kg
Position: Small Utility

Austin Harris joins the Roosters for season 2024 after spending the last 2 seasons in Essendon’s VFL program. Austin is originally from Cairns and came through the Gold Coast Suns Academy. Austin was an All-Australian through his junior years and has played at VFL level with both the Gold Coast and Essendon. Austin is quick over the ground, and has the versatility to play forward, midfield, and defence. He has some x-factor and uses the ball well when in possession.

Austin is originally from Cairns and came through the Suns academy. Austin plays with a flair that we like at North Adelaide. He has great speed, agility and uses the ball well. He is very driven to get the best out of his football. Aussie is a high motor young man with a great appetite to learn and improve. He is a team first player and a great person. We welcome Austin and his family to the club.” Senior Coach, Jacob Surjan
