Roast SANFL to take over Power today?

Re: SANFL to take over Power today!

Not possible.
18 of those 22K would have been standing.

Logistically Alberton is not setup to handle those crowds - access, parking, grandstands, facilities (bars, catering, toilets), corporate boxes etc etc. It would need $200M+ in construction work for new grandstands and facilities, better public transport (the tram to nowhere!), better parking (which would probably require land purchases etc).

But is it possible? ..........200m is a lot cheaper than 500m......isnt it?

But red tape, deals, discussions, plans, tender and approval do take a very long time. Especially in this state.

The area around alberton would be none too pleased if this was to happen as well. That area isn't built to handle 20,000 people.

For one day of the week, surely it can handle 20k of people....

Provide me better solution?

Somewhere in Heaven Bruce Webber is smiling.

Whilst Duncanson works hard to contain his smile down here.

If one is to google map Alberton Oval, you can easily see how Alberton can be transformed with two new grandstands.

One on top of the bowling greens and over the club rooms incorporating the old stadium that is there or on the far side.

You have to use a little imagination...

It's not the stadium thats the issue. It's the location, surrounding area and accessability. These are all major projects.

Will the media start referring to the cash strapped SANFL with its $27M debt and inability to draw a line of credit?

Technically they are the "debt-ridden" and "cash-strapped" SANFL.
You could arguably add "financially mis-managed".

The only major project is the tram that will be running down Port Road......The footy express.....as for the location.....it couldn't be in a better place.......HOME....Port Adelaide....well Alberton if you want to get techinical.....

And the parking? Toilets? Catering?

Do as they do with the tram at the Entertainment Centre...park in ride to the footy....there will be stations down Port Road and if planned correctly.....they should place them close to parking lots.

Catering: its the cash cow.....getting this right is crucial.

Toilets is also important......but how hard can that be?

All money we don't have and would never get funding for in a million years unless we funded it ourselves.

Thanks for acknowledging my posts......it just confirms to me that it is possible....because you haven't provided me with a better solution.

You have to spend money to make money.....

Money = Debt

The Government are just about to hand over to the SMA 500m......for an upgraded stadium......and 1/4 of that is for a "footbridge".

The SACA has led us up that golden path and yanked our pants down and driven it home.....

Why would they conduct a press conference, dominated by the SANFL and announcing that the SANFL are still playing the pivotal role in our future if they had lost control?

If it were the other way around I suspect we would have seen Haysman swinging from the chandeliers and shouting from the rooftops.

Instead, we saw SANFL power brokers and a somewhat dejected Duncanson claim the status-quo is all hunkydorey

Rucci reporting that the SANFL tried to put in it's own CEO ie takeover but failed. Win for the AFL and Port, **** on that Whicker.

Whicker looks like he's just been given the arse.

I sent 3 emails today. One to Demetriou, Whicked and Haysman. Only Haysman has replied.

To summarise his response-
  • thanks for the support
  • an ugly 24 hours with much pain, but necessary
  • a major win and important day for our football club
I have no doubt the SANFL have attempted a hostile takeover and been shut down.

So, we have a situation whereby Port could potentially no longer exist in its current form in the AFL and the SANFL maintains its current league, or, Port get its own license and become stronger than ever and essentially, cripple the SANFL?

**** it, roll the dice Port.

We all know what happened the last time the SANFL and Port fought a battle like this...

dude, you can't change clubs!!!!!!!Thems the rules.

hahaha
So, when Olsen said today "we're buildnig a bridge to Adelaide Oval" ... it wasn't a metaphor, he actually meant ... "we're spending a small fortune on building a footbridge over the Torrens to the Adelaide Oval" ;).

This is all an absolute joke the way it is coming across in the media. It makes us look like the financial basket case. It's all about Port and debt. But FFS we have a $4m debt, and the SANFL has a $27m debt. They make money out of us while their contract conditions force us to make a loss. The headlines should not be about us, it should be about the SANFL. They are the bad guy here. They are the problem. Give us a break!

I just wanna know are we ok? And is the sanfl losing it's power over us?

I am scared that we will be bailed out by the afl but nothing else changes

I was at that game and it was sardine city. And that was before the Allan Scott HQ was built.

Can someone please explain to me our current board set up?

I know it has traditionally been half Port appointed and half SANFL appointed but didn't we add an extra on or two for special skills we required? I am just curious as to whether the SANFL tried to use these extra members to tip the balance and throw our board.

Could the exiting board members be exiting because they were backing the SANFL take over? (surely not Wakes but I personally know nothing of the other two).

Also who is left on our board now and of them which ones are PAFC appointed and which are SANFL appointed?
