No surprise to see Kerri and Bonnie quit, they were the weakest ones left and were struggling with every task.

Bonnie executing reverse kangas in the shitter

Even the SAS guy had a bit of a laugh at that.

How amazing is Super Jana? First she bosses the Hostage Rescue, the first contestant to successfully complete the task. Then she bosses the Ice Bath, with an astounding memory recall - that staggered even the DS.

This show has 2 clear favourite contenders - Sam Burgess & Jana Pittman. Burgess bosses the physical tasks, and has excellent leadership skills, but falls down whenever asked to use the grey matter between his ears (not surprising for a Rugby League player). Pittman holds her own in the physical tasks, but she's on a whole other level to everyone else when it comes to the mental side... and that's before we consider her role as "camp mum", with all the doctoring and counselling she does ... and she's doing it all 6 months after giving birth.

I would be astounded if these 2 aren't the winners of this year's course. I would be equally astounded if anyone else was found worthy.

Like many, I had very little time for "Drama Jana", back when she was competing in the Olympics - but her performances in SAS Aus have turned my opinions on her completely upside down.

I am really looking forward to seeing what happens when she gets called in for her interview with the DS. That could be one very interesting interview.

Isabelle Cornish has been impressive. Has just quietly gone about her business and got the job done most times. The only thing that makes me think she may not go far is her lack of attention by CH 7.

There is no reason why Heath Shaw can't win it. He hasn't been setting the world on fire so far but he's exactly the type of person that you would think is made for this show - fit (only recently out of the game), strong, mentally resilient, competitive. Can see him having a good second half.

I just can't see either of them being selected.

Cornish has done surprisingly well, in many of the tasks - most notably the Trapezium and the Hostage Rescue. I just can't see her being physically strong enough to make the grade. She'll go a long way, but won't ultimately be selected.

Shaw copes fine with the physical side, but he's just not on the cutting edge for anything - and his failure in the Hostage Rescue was epic. Burgess, Kenny & Abberton can all match (or better) him in the physical stakes, but without the mental failures that he demonstrated last night.

It's highly unlikely that there will be more than 2-3 winners, and I just can't see either of these elevating themselves into the truly elite status. Right now there are 2 contestants who are head & shoulders above all others, and it's very difficult to see anyone else clawing back the gap.
