Scarlett - 3 weeks with guilty plea

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

James McDonald breaks an opponents jaw and gets two.

Ballantyne gets straight up once he realises he got the free and kicks the goal.

1 week or reprimand for mine, especially when the MRP take into account any injuries sustained in the incident.

Hey, it's as good as any other prediction from the lottery that is the MRP.

You can't possibly compare a deliberate punch directed at an opponents jaw to a bump, surely.

It will get assessed as most have said already, Intentional, High and either Low or Medium impact. Scarlett is perhaps a little lucky he didn't connect ala BBBH.

Not much in it, but he will cop his whack and move on.

exactly and thankyou for not being ANOTHER nufty but he should get 3 weeks, 2 with a guilty plea for intentional, high contact and low impact. medium impact I think would be an incorrect call but also would be calling it reckless (although I'm sure if they wanted to the cats could argue it was reckless, but I hope they have more respect than that).
3 weeks reduced to 2 is the right call IMO.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

How many points for a bad look? The points system's cold logic means that a forceful tackle can and has been dealt with more severely than a punch, an elbow, or a kick to the nuts.

The MRP point system yes. But if they want to make an example of him they could send it straight to the tribunal bypassing the point system like they did with Hall.

If that is what the AFL is trying to do then wouldnt a better idea would be to treat the cause not the symptom? Why overly punish a player/s re-acting when it would be easier just to punish the cause of the problem?
You hit 1 player hard to say "its not on" instead of every month or so smacking a different player?
Not that I think they should do that, but if as you said its such a huge concern for them then I think throwing scarlo under the bus would be the wrong decision.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

He should get minimum 3 weeks even with a early plea... You can't just punch someone in the jaw because there annoying you.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

LOL at all the crying Cats fans in here. Premiership envy? No. It's facts, Scarlett is a cheap dog and he's finally been caught out. 4 weeks for sure, Buddy to kick 8 on Monday and Hawks to win by 40+

Let's see Scarlett do his little cat dance now, cockys.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

4 weeks easily.... how many did Barry Hall get again for his round house, was it 8?

it's nothing like Hall's whack.Hall knocked out his opponent [Staker ???] and I think broke his jaw.Scarlett just gave this little **** a whack on the chin.

Oh someone is still upset over Scarlo's actions in the last few minutes of the GF :p

Scarlett wouldn't even have been playing on Buddy anyway.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

dropped?? watch the vision again, Scarlo hit him with his left fist, so on mole rats right side yet he drops with the force like he was hit front on and fell like he was hit on the opposite side. Twas a dive and nothing more. I've never seen someone hit who then falls the OPPOSITE direction (TO the punch, not away).
But hey dont let facts get in the way of your Cats jealousy

Unfortunately the immutable laws of physics contradict the whole premise of your account

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

3 weeks is probably about right (if he pleads guilty).
Let's remember Big Bad Bazza only got a month more or so for rearranging a jaw!

you might want to try again, that proves EXACTLY what I'm saying.
Leave physics and action/reaction to people who actually understand it.

Do these MRP clowns spin the wheel to determine intent, impact & contact or what?

Geelong should have jumped on the phone immediately and "reluctantly" accepted the decision.

12 months ago Alex Rance held his ground and braced himself and allowed Waite to run into him and he copped 3 weeks as it was classified as; Reckless, high impact and high contact drawing four weeks or 3 weeks with a guilty plea. Waite became the first player to be subbed after a concussion test and this must have been factored in.

So what the AFL are effectively saying now is this was worse than Scarletts jab of the knuckles to Ballantynes jaw as this is only medium impact. If Ballantyne had his jaw broken or was concussed the MRP would likely have looked at this differently??? To make matters even more confusing Ballantyne elbowed Chapman to the solar plexus behind play and he only cops two weeks:confused:

The MRP is a joke:thumbsdown:

Absolute disgrace that Scarlett has got more than Ballantyne. Ballantyne's hit was much harder and was a king hit - just saw the footage on 360. Scarlett, whilst a stupid act, wasn't as hard and he was facing Ballantyne when he did it.

OH PLEASE LOL..... King HIT? lol - it was an elbow to the stomach... should have got 4, Scarlett should have got 5

Ballas coaxed Scarlett but didnt think he would cop one on the button, he thought he would get away with it, but Scarlett blew his fuse and closed fist punched him on the Jaw.

Just because a punch looks small, or weak it can do some good damage in the right spots. Personally i think he actually hit him on the button and stunned him.

Nah he wasn't stunned till a few moments later when he realised the blow had no impact so he had to throw himself to the ground.
