Stand and deliver - loved it!

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

Ah they don't need him against Hawthorn anyway - they don't have any forwards that need to be covered.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

It is supposed to be a pretty simple system.

Someone posted a bit earlier all the details. They seem spot on to me, 225 points = 1 week with an early plea, and left with some carry over points. Maybe the MRP will make it medium impact (325 points) to try and bump it up to 2 weeks.

Can't understand why people are pulling all these random suggestions out of the air like 4 or 6 weeks, and completely ignoring the actual MRP system.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

Just saw the replay of the incident on "Housewives News"

Scarlo gave him a bop, there was like a 1-2 second pause, then Ballantyne went down like someone had potted him from the grassy knoll.

Dumb from Scarlo but fair dinkum was that the most embarassingly fake stage ever???

Please don't talk about staging when you've got Stevie J in your team. When he stages for a free in front of goal and gets a goal out of it do you think it's a bad thing ??

I think not.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

I can't believe the naivety on this thread. This is the AFL we're talking about. As if they'd tolerate a deliberate punch to the head. You've seen what they give for in-play offences, this is a whole different level

I'm on the record as saying Johnno's a good enough player that he doesn't need to do that sort of stupid shit.

Pretty sure he has some points left over from the Hawthorn game last year, so he is probably looking at minimum 2 maximum 3

Is there a site that lists these?

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

Is there any chance it can go straight to the tribunal like what happened with barry hall???

Hall's punch wasnt assessed with the Intentional, high contact, high impact etc. It went straight to the tribunal and bypassed the MRP assessment.

I dont think it will but what do others reckon??

Scarlett is very very lucky he didnt get him an inch higher or he might have broken his jaw, luck is was more of a glancing blow but its just the intent of the action that i think will have him in trouble.

On another note, am just watching the replay of the game. I am a massive Stevie J fan but i think he set the record for most dives in a single game last night. Quiet funny.

He will break that record next Monday......

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

Where do they consider that it was outside of play?
I thought there was a component for that.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

Should only be a couple of weeks at most, wasn't that hard a punch and Ballantyne made it look worse than it was by taking a dive.

Ballantyne should get as many weeks for provoking players and diving, he is a blight on the game.

You have Didak.

Checkmate.

It's in the rules.

For 2012, the Commission approved the following recommendations:
...
Staging
- MRP instructed to be more stringent on staging, with excessive exaggeration of contact in an unsportsmanlike manner to be a reportable offence in addition to feigning contact.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

Yeah, like they're ever going to impose the staging rule. If Balla's get's done for that, their will be 20 players with cases to answer for every week.

Scarlett should get 3-4 with an early plea imo.

The AFL need to start somewhere before soccer culture becomes the norm. The warning shot re Kane Cornes did nothing.

Re: Scarlett reported for striking

Poor by Scarlett and by Ballantyne. Agree with the High Contact, Deliberate and Low Impact for 1 week post concessions, all it deserves at worst.

For all the ranting in this thread after seeing the video there really isn't anything in it.

This is the interesting one - the video shows that Ballantyne obviously throws himself backwards 0.5 to 1.0 seconds after Scarlett makes contact with him, flipping himself onto his back, which definitely constitutes 'excessive exaggeration of contact'. The exaggeration is proven by the fact that he suffered no ill effects from the contact, was able to take his shot at goal, and didn't need to leave the field after the incident. I don't expect the MRP to have the balls to do anything about it though, even though it is clearly written into the rules.

My guess in the MRP 'lotto' is anywhere between 3-5 weeks for Scarlett.

And to all the Collingwood and Hawthorn supporters bleating on about SJ being a diver - whether or not it is true, it is irrelevant to the discussion of this incident. Take your whingeing to Bay 13.

Perceived staging or diving by the fans and media does not mean it acutally happened.

Slow mo replays are just that, not real time.

The Scarlett incident shows Pav and the other freo player who were there, immediately remonstrating and angry at Scarlett.
