what about Jesse Wells did he play in the 2sben.carbonaro said:Was a good out at Newcomen road today and was a good win, with every player contributing something. In my opinion, today was some of the best team football I have ever seen, even after my two year apprenticeship at Rupertswood d2 section in the VAFA.
1. Ray- went a bit unnoticed today and wasn't the usual ball magnet that he is. His form has been like that of the stock market, up and down some weeks he will play AFL then maybe next two or three weeks he plays VFL for Werribee. He needs to be consistant and string some good games together for Werribee to be inline for a recall.
4. Faulkner- played in the midfield toady and also kicked a running goal from outside 50, a la Aaron Davey. Has been consistant and flashy over th past few weeks. Should hopefully be able to earn a recall, after bring dropped twi earlier this year from the AFL side.
11. Patrick Bowden- only kicked the one goal this week, compared to the bag he kicked against Frankston where he teamed wirth Podsaidly to form a lethal forward duo. Has played two standout games against Geelong and Frankston since being dropped, needs to play more games like this on a regular basis to get an AFL recall.
13. Birss- was easily the best player on ground again today and has done this four weeks in a row. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a recall for the Bulldogs games against Hawthorn. This guy is though as nails and this is demonstrated when he backs into packs to take marks.
22. Rawlings- played down back again today and was consistant with his kciks out of the backline. Problems with his set shot for goal were revisted when he drifted down forward and kicked across the fact of goal, which many Bulldogs supporters would remember from last year.
26. Bandy- spent the day rotating with Street and also got plenty of kicks around the ground, providing another tap option both up forward and down back. Copped a serious knock and required some stitches, about one of his eyes.
29. McGuiness- kicked four goals today and has done this several times already for Werribee in a role as a target up forward who isn't afraid to use his body to take a mark in a contest. A recall to the AFL side shouldn't be too far away.
31. Street- was great in the ruck today, but it looks as though he may be playing out his contract with Werribee despite the best effort of the PSLA, whose members feature on this board. His kicking is still improving and some long bombs around the ground again proved his worth as a tall who can play in a position other than in the ruck.
33. Brad Murphy- played on the wing and rover today, interchanging between the two at centre bounces. Also kicked two goals, further showing that he is suited towards a role as a goal kicking midfielder/ small crumbing forward. In terms of his AFL prospects, give him a few moer games in the VFL and possibly give him some AFL games one the Bulldogs are more certain about their position for the year.
37. Wight- playing in his first VFL after his first two games for the Bulldogs. Played down back and also did a lot of ruckwork at the boundary throw ins. Has the pace and ability to play in a position outside of the ruck, with Axe grooming him for a defensive post in the future once he can cement a regular spot in the Bulldogs side. Came off early in the last quarter with a thigh or calf strain, but he should be right for next week just needs to ice it and get the all clear from Doc Zimmerman at the Bulldogs.
50. Williams- played down back, but didn't have as much as impact as he had in previous weeks. Needs to be consistant if he wants to hold down a possibly defensive post with the Bulldogs. Tweaked his ankle and was on crutches as 3/4 time. Should be ok for next week and be ready to perform better than his efforts this week.
For members of the PSLA, I had a chat with Streeta about it today and he couldn't believe that such a movement was formed about him. Told him about the banner and had to tell him three times before he believed me, he said he would check with the boys at Bulldogs training to see if the PSLA banner was at today's game.
