Please Scott, retire. You're too old and way too slow.

Go out closer your best than your worst.
Gee some people are fickle writing this nonsense about our greatest ever player. Pendlebury was one of our best players through the middle rounds before he got injured. He is old yes, he has always been slow. How about give him more than a few down weeks before retiring him? You probably wanted him retired 5-years ago when he had to move to the backline.

Despite another poor game from him he was still in our top ten players.

He is definitely not the problem and I’d be happy for him to go around again next year for sure.
Have a feeling that this is his last year. Wouldn’t surprise to see an announcement prior to the 400th.

Has been poor since coming back from the injury. Makes me think he's still injured. Was playing really well before he got the injury.

Spot on. Was one of our best players for the season up until that bicep injury. Has not looked right since coming back. Watching him, it feels like he can no longer tackle.

I think he should play on next season, where he can freshen back up with a full off season and come back for ‘one last dance’.

He needs to be realistic and selfless. The club needs to perform a list overhaul at season’s end, and he is acutely aware of the predicament they are now in. Too many old players in a young man’s game.
I think they will coax him into retirement to save face.

I’m very confused …

According to AFLCA votes he’s currently the fourth best Collingwood player for season 2024. He has had some very good games this year. There were times during the Hawks game when he looked like the only Collingwood player running around putting in effort and providing leadership.

Why, why, why on earth would we want to push out our fourth best player???

I get that he’s the oldest player on our list and we need to transition to youth, but surely we do that when he’s no longer able to contribute? And he’s currently a mile off that.

I thought he was all at sea yesterday. Granted it was very wet, but he fumbled consistently.
On one hand I’d love him to carry on, on the other it would be tragic to see him struggle through 2025, because the end can come abruptly.

No one wants to push him out.
The decision will be his.

I think he'll probably go on next year, but that still won't get him to the record (he'll need another 2-5 the following year), so I wonder if he will accept that he isn't getting that record and then see less need to suit up for '25.

Its the loser mentality in everybody, he was cruising along to 400 then he injures his pec misses some games

and all of a sudden he's a liability there's another 30 year old I'd get rid of first

Not necessarily.

It’s still possible for us to make it to the Grand Final this year. And if we do we will have done it the hard way from the bottom 4 of the 8 and playing more games.

And then we could do the same again next year.

And if he stays fit and in form through all that then it will be enough.

Unfortunately, I don’t see too many young players pushing out the 30+ year olds in the way Sidebottom / Beams / Blair pushed out O’Bree / Lockyer / Medhurst.

And I don’t see anybody pushing out Mason Cox in the way Jolly pushed out Fraser. Maybe Smit / Steene / Begg will at some stage but none of them are anywhere near it yet.

It's not hard. Beating Collingwood is about uncontested possessions. That's the blueprint now and players like Pendles and Long are a liability as they both slow and just can't cover the ground quick enough ti apply pressure on the opposition.

So what was happening earlier in the season is irrelevant.
