I find that somewhat hard to believe. Out of interest who would you have in front of him? The only obvious one to me would be Jovanovic. None of the others stand out to me. I'd struggle to name more than 3 or 4 others by name.

I probably put it the wrong way and should of stated that I don't think he is in their most important players. In my opinion they would miss Grgic, Jovanavic, Overall and the ruck man more if they were missing than they would Moreland.

Absolute dick of a guy who i wouldnt want running out beside me..but based on football ability moreland would be top 3 in any side in the league.

This is a pretty narrow minded comment. Does it really matter what type of bloke he is? Not every guy you play footy with is going to be a ripping fella but if he can function in a team environment then that is all that matters. The fact that Moreland has been a major contributor in back to back premierships at BPH makes your opinion on him sound rather ridiculous.

They all go to the gfl. Brent Grigic is an ex afl player that is with Bell Post Hill, Gmable and Ottens and Newtown, David Johnson St Marys, Tim Sheringham and Nick Batchelor at Bell Park, Paul Corrigan South Barwon

god help blue west this year, any good players that they actaully had have headed down to barwon heads to strenthen up the 2's. they have had barely getting any players to training and a coach who has never played senior footy. i think the wheels have finally came off. the board has to be blamed for this. didnt want to pay there top players and there players that have been there for years. there president wouldnt have a clue who to recruit because he knows nothing about the local game. hes only been in geelong for about 5 years and only started playing when he got here. its gonna be an embarrasing year for the cheetahs and a bet there alreadys looking forward to mad monday

It was a disapointing year for banno. They have picked up a bloke named shaun taylor from port fairy i think he played at sth barwon 2's a few years ago and they have picked up 3 players from ballarat i dont no there names. I dont no who is leaving. They were not a happy team last year

They are in big trouble. How are they ever going to improve
west would have one of the worst win loss records in the vcfl over the last 10 years. Would west have won over 15 games in the last 10 yrs? I remember they won about 4 games in one years when sheedy coached. That was there best year that i can remember

To support Jimmy at GWSC, I can back up that the club is doing some fantastic things in the community to become a stronger, more inclusive, competitive and sustainable club! In answer to your question the club has been actively promoting and trying to recruit for an u/18s side since before xmas. They have had articles in the Addy, ads on K Rock and have contacted every school in the region.

Further to this the club is participating in a Vic Health Pilot Project which is leading the way in supporting clubs to become healthier, safer and as previously mentioned more inclusive to ensure long term sustainability. They are one of a small number of football clubs in the South West District doing this and don't be suprised if the next Majak Daw or Bachar Houli is a former cheater!

Further more, the club has recruited some strong young footballers who they hope will help the club move forward in the next couple years. No ones naive enough to suggest we will win a flag this season or perhaps even push top sides, this is a 2-3 year endeavour, but with Nick Washington leading the side (who for your info has played seniors, not that it's a requirement to be a good coach) with strong support, the club hopes to make significant inroads!

Finally if any of you have any constructive feedback, skills or money to support the club and make the changes you think need to occur, feel free to contact the club, otherwise do us all a favor and piss off!

I'm sure if you two blokes were a little bit more professional your footballers might be to. If you read my post again you will notice that everything i've written has been to inform and correct false statements that people have provided regarding GWSC.

As mentioned I'm all for constructive feedback and club updates, if it's of any use. What I and most big footy subscribers don't want to read is useless post's like "your club's shit". I'm not on here to defend myself or have stupid online fights with uninformed subscribers, but I will pull them up if I feel it's needed.

Feel free to doubt what clubs can achieve and not achieve on and off field. It matters not to anyone anyhow, people just want to read useful posts!

Curious to see if anyone would be keen to venture a guess on how much clubs like East Geelong and Bell Post Hill would be spending on players this year?

Would be interesting to know exactly how much of difference there actually is between the top and bottom clubs financially

It seems from the outside that Inverleigh is one of the only clubs that has been able to keep the same group of players around without spending big dollars and actually make its way up the ladder.

It’s unfortunate but the clubs at the bottom end of the ladder don’t have much chance unless they can raise a significant amount of money to compete for quality players. Same thing seems to happen in the GFL as well.
Just an opinion, feel free to tell me I’m wrong.

Agree completely mate! Although I'm not privy to what everyone spends on player payments, I can hazard a guess that the gulf between the clubs you have mentioned and the clubs at the bottom of the ladder is massive.

It would most definately be the same in the other leagues too. It's very hard for small clubs to gain massive sponsorship dollars when they constantly fail to perform, but without them it makes it hard to get the funds to attract the quality players for this to change. It's a vicious cycle.

It's also difficult for clubs who operate in areas where there are multiple clubs, becuase families will always lean to sending their kids to the well resourced and financially stable clubs. You could also argue though that one team towns with small populations or limited businesses will struggle. At the moment I think you either need to be a club who is dominating or from a large independent town like an ocean grove or Torquay to be successful. But yet we still try to improve and build on our foundations, thus why we all explore new avenues

Thomson has never exceeded 50k in the last 12 years including netball, football and coaches...3 flags and missed finals once! It can be done on a small budget if you get the right players to your club that want success and not money!

Well they will exceed that this year because Grigg i know is on a fair bit and forbes won't be playing for donuts after the offers he was getting around the region

As I said I'm not in a position to argue but I find that incredibly hard to believe. Your saying that 22 senior footballers 10 senior neballers and coaches combined don't earn much over $2000 a week? If that's correct every club in Australia wants their business plan!
