The fine for a reserves forfeit is $400 for a home game (league gets all) and $600 for an away game (home club gets $300 of that).
At least the home club will get something to offset the smaller gate.

The fines for the season are going to eat into the club's finances.

I get that for a one off but if you go into the season knowing your well off the mark it should be more.
