I feel as though I should abstain.
season 5 richard GIF

Does this photo give any insight into our leadership group?

Mills sitting next to Cox so is a clear lock for captain. Rampe on the other side and was also stand in captain for much of last year.

Are all of the other players in that row part of the monster sized leadership group we had last year? Or is it just a coincidence that many of our leaders are not tall players at the back?

A few short clips of rampe defending Amartey and imo, infringed every time. Someone made the point he's just not big enough to play key defensive post and it certainly showed in the footage released by the club.

Not sure it's his size, probably more just on the downward trend that comes with being 34.

He did well on bigger opponents in his prime, and got torched by some of the smaller ones, so if he can't be a KPD at AFL level, it might be reserves for him in his last year.

Amartey looked far from convincing either, juggling marks & not bothering to extend his arms forward in attempting to mark. Hope it's just pre-season rust...

This was a very interesting interaction on that video on FB. I posted this comment and got this reaction

Edit. I think it's a fake account. She's "liked" every single comment in that post including posts to get rid of players, so likely nothing to see here.

All three players were very messy, not running at the ball and getting tangled up. At least Amartey was in front. Rampe and Blakey both infringing.

Sounds like McCartin could be used as the 3rd more agile tall

BUT....

Its only preseason so watch him be named at full back to start R0

EDIT: Looks like Hayden McLean is running laps

Hardwick for Hawthorn did his whole 24 pre season in the forward line , but in the season he played Deefence

100% 18v18 intra squads are just half the players playing their secondary position because the squad only has so many of each role that they might be undermanned etc.

Following up on the above, I was there for the first 2 periods of play

Teams:

RED
Rampe
Melican
Lloyd
Blakey
Cunningham
Hayward
Green (was main ruck in Grundy's absence)
TMac
Amartey
Errol
Chad
Heeney
Paton
Mills
Roberts
Papley
Rowy
Caiden

BLUE
Ladhams
Buller
Bowman
Sheldrick
Kirk
Corey
Juzzy
Jordon
Mitchell
Wicks
Snell
Florent
Francis
Bice
Ben Edwards (VFL)
Matty Lloyd (VFL)
2 other players I did not recognise (one was playing against Green in the ruck, and was at least 10cm shorter!)

McLean was running laps, Edwards was doing some sprinting

Rehab group on sidelines was Hamling, Campbell, Leidler and Hanily

EDIT: seems Hamling played on TMac in the 2nd half, according to AFL article/pic

Grundy came later in training gear, didn't play whilst I was there and was walking around oval

Dattoli and Logan both on sidelines in the maroon training tops

Did not see Fox, Adams, or Andrews at all (may have missed them, but weren't playing)

If McCartin, like his brother, wasn't one big hit away from jeopardizing his future, I wouldn't mind the idea of him playing forward. Too risky.
I don't mind it as a we loose a KPF in game scenario but don't think it should be a starting option as his concussions seem to come from around the ground incidents if my memory is correct

I am worried about McCartin being a forward as he is concussion prone like his brother, and you are more likely to get a concussion as a forward than as a defender.

Yep and thats why i want him in his more natural KPD position.

Also think forums and X can be an echo chamber and poor games can be overstated etc. McCartin is still well better than any of the up and coming KPDs we have
