The point is that someone already did. A simmer used his knowledge of the results to cheat a betting thread a few seasons ago. I wouldn't think so either if it hadn't already happened.

It’s actually really easy. Every post has the time that it was made, just check with Cloud_ that any posts made by simmers isn’t the game they are simming and was made before the results for said game were posted in the inbox.

I'm pretty sure the simmer and poster of the game is different? Cloud_ can you clarify?

Yeah you haven’t understood me.
1. The simmer posts their bet on your thread and it leaves the time they posted it there.
2. You clarify with Cloud_ who is in the simmers inbox that they didn’t place their bet after the results for the other games have been posted in the inbox. Therefore they can’t cheat as they haven’t seen the results.

Betting and simmers was an issue last time because simmers and game posters know the results days before it gets posted. The easiest fix is just to not accept bets after the team sheet deadline because it's certain that no games are simmed before then.

I think it's fine, generally it just means if simmers/posters want to take bets they need to get them in really early on a Friday.
