Discussion Season 29 was a blessing and a curse

Change needs to occur with the All-Sweet FA side for good of the league.

The exclusion of the league's best poster due to not playing enough games in the backline, and then naming a full-time midfielder in the backline, was wrong.

It was harmful to the league longer-term.

It discourages players from playing in less glamorous positions.

It ultimately will harm retention.

Believe it or not, but at the Bombers, there's literally a line outside the coaches room each week to ask to play in less glamorous positions.

As the coaches' mouthpiece, poor WaynesWorld19 has the unenviable job of telling poor midfield sods like me I can't go back to the back pocket and has to put up with my hissy fits when he does.

But if you're a gun poster that plays back, and you've got the 2nd/3rd best stats, but are the best poster, you get the slot. Posting must be given a weighting.

As far as I'm concerned, I was the best poster at the Bombers this year, but wasn't weighted accordingly.

I can't make this more plain.

We need to start acknowledging players who play in less glamorous positions.

We need to do so from Season 30, and not stop doing so thereafter.

It is ultimately detrimental to the league not to do so.

Start acknowledging players in those positions, and more active players will start being named in those positions.

More active players will be retained.

This is the single most disappointing aspect of Season 29.
