There is nothing sarcastic about it. I'll be in the cold hard ground before I recognise Melbourne as part of Victoria, especially after the stunt they've been pulling for the past 6 months.

As a 30th-season celebration, could we have an off-season tournament with these All-Star teams?

It could go like this: a Group Stage, plus Finals.

Group A
DEM, WON, FUR, GUM
Group B
HAW, BOM, DRA, ROY
Group C
SCS, LVB, GCR, CIW​

Then, the top-2 from each group, plus 2 best thirds move to finals (single knockout):

1A - 3B/C (QF1)
v (SF1)
2B - 2C (QF4)

- V - (GF)

1B - 3A/C (QF2)
v (SF2)
1C - 2A (QF3)

There would be 25 matches (18 in groups stage; 7 finals).

Love the idea on paper, but in a practical sense, it's probably too many games involving too few active players (many of the listed players have retired, and others are named in multiple teams)
As above, it would also clash with SoO and ultimately, prefer SoO because at least there's no doubling up and people who are around can more easily sign up and take part
That said, I'm more open to it for the mid year break (between S31-2) when there's no SoO
Sure there's Tittybong but not every team participates in that anyway and being a carnival format, Tittybong takes less time than SoO anyway so might be able to cope with an extra tournament at a time where people are more likely to be around (during the footy season rather than during the holiday period/offseason)
