when I was part of the bid for a new team I was told by a few captains that I would never get a team across the line if it had anything to do with vipers, lizards or reptiles due to failed attempts in the past using those types of mascots / names.

So obviously being told we wouldn't meant we would, so Ophidian which means snake like was born. And just to add the cherry on top our team motto - Serpens iratus est in braccas means 'There is an angry snake in my pants'
