In Round 8 of S36 on a Cloudy day at Spotswood Oval, the Old Boys began strongly and lead by 8 points before the Royals found another gear to kick the last 4 scoring shots of the quarter and take a handy 1 goal lead at the first change. The Old Boys never gave up and were never out of touch, but equally, were never able to reclaim the lead due to inaccuracy, as the Royals prevailed by just 10 points. Fleabane (107 DT , 8 tackles) did everything possible to keep the Old Boys in the game. grumbleguts kicked 6 goals but could've easily had 8 on the back of dominance from the likes of Membling (98 DT , 2 goals, 7 tackles).
Last Week
The Royals had an afternoon to forget as they conceded an early lead to the Roys and trailed by as much as 81 points before some late junk time goals trimmed the margin back to a 59 point loss. Brenton Davy (4 goals) and Nothing (3 goals, 67 DT) could hold their heads high on an otherwise torrid day for the club.
The Old Boys dominated the first quarter against the Swamprats , kicking 4 goals to 0 , but the Swamprats took the lead by half time before the Old Boys reclaimed it early in each of the final two quarters. The Old Boys were outrun/outmuscled later in the term as they conceded the final 4 goals of the game en route to a disappointing 25 point loss.
