It is the final round, time to see what is left to fight for in the season of 38.

For the Gumbies, the equation is simple, win and they play finals. If they lose and other results go against them, they could miss out altogether as they are the most vulnerable of the teams in the lower half of the final eight.

The Swamprats cannot make the final eight, regardless of other results unless there are some teams penalised points for some real or imagined breaches of the rules. They are a small chance of snatching the wooden spoon with a big loss and a couple of other results going against them.

Prediction: Gumbies to make finals, Rats to miss out.

Captains, please do your thing with the teams ...

Might be a bit quiet this week Swampies, just looking for where we left our form.

After a draw against the bye, it'd be nice to finish the year with a win!!!

Our last week as Co-Captains

Let’s go out with a:

As opposed to the bombastic, hive of activity and mass posts that is the Swamprats. 🤨
Hopefully later in the week, we can rejoice together when India is bowled out for 52 😄.

Magnificent.
Sadly, Australia would struggle to chase down much more than that on current form.

A mate of mine told me last week about an incident with his 3 year old grandson. The boy was having a bath, and his mother says to him, "What do you want to wash first, William?" He replied, "My balls." 🤣

It is always a quiet week when The Gumballs are in a Match Thread
24 minutes into Monday and we are already getting activity banter.

This is worse than not posting at all

You mean like the Dragons v Royals thread - not a single post so far.

Id like to cheer Steve Smith's 10,000 run in the first test. (315 away)

We'll likely see it this summer.

If he can get to 10,000 and 2 more tons (34 is equal 7th with Gavasker, Lara, Younis Khan & Jaywardne) that puts him into very rare company. It thins out quickly from that point, 36 is top 5 with Dravid, 38 is Sangakarra at 4th. The top 3 of Ponting, kallis and Sachin are a bit away at the moment with 41,45 & 51 and maybe a bridge to far. I'd love to see him get to 36 tons

He's 35 (36 next June) - if his form holds for that long, I'd be surprised if he doesn't want to go to England for the 2027 Ashes. So maybe Ponting's 41 is within reach.

I'm intrigued by what sort of pitch is going to be put up in Perth. The curators were saying about a month ago that they were trying to make a spicy early-90s WACA imitation, but drop-ins have had mixed success in WA. It has also been a mild spring thus far so hopefully that means the pitch will have plenty of life in it.

41 is not impossible, but it is a quarter of his total hundreds in about 10% of his career so far.
He'd have to hit a hot run of form. He is completely capable of that though.
If he plays 20 more tests, which is probably the high end of it, he is a chance.
