The other consideration is, at what point (if at all) do the national selectors start making some tough calls on certain players? I'm ancient enough to remember the impact of Greg Chappell, Rod Marsh and Dennis Lillee retiring at the same time - we took a while to recover. Do we risk something similar happening with the current group of players? Only McSweeney is the right side of 30.41 is not impossible, but it is a quarter of his total hundreds in about 10% of his career so far.
He'd have to hit a hot run of form. He is completely capable of that though.
If he plays 20 more tests, which is probably the high end of it, he is a chance.
