We don't want to end up 4th. Brisbane will gobble us up. Hope Chelsea is ok next week.
One thing I learned about Brisbane is they're a selfish team.
There were 3 incidents in our game where a Brisbane player took a shot at goal on the run from 20-30m out with a free player ahead of the play.
They'll take the 70% chance when there's a 99% chance ahead of them.

I can see them blowing a game based solely on their selfishness.

Yes, they are the best. BUT, a few f*** ups by taking stupid decisions as they did last week, and I can see them falling short.

I know Richmond’s AFLW team has worked closely with a specialist kicking consultant/coach and their kicking skills are now some of the best in the comp, the Crows should seriously look into that Hatchard and McKinnon’s foot skills are spew inducing

Prowse is growing on me
Early on today she seemed to be fumbling everything and going to ground easy.

But as the game has gone on, and as she's gotten her hands on the ball more, she's looking better and better all game.

Yano.
Fully fit, I'd actually like to see a midfield of Marinoff/Randall/Charlton.

Then play Hatchard high forward. I like her marking. But I'd like a little more composure in the midfield with Randall/Charlton.

yes, I know composure and Marinoff are an oxymoron. But I'll take 1 player with the attitude of see ball, get ball, kick ball. Not big on 2 of them in there (Marinoff/Hatchard), and if 1 had to move out. I'd like Hatchard forward of the ball to take a strong contested mark.

I like a forward line of Ponter/Woodland/Hatchard/Martin (To follow Woodland around)/Resting Ruck (Gould/McKinnon)

Issue being I dont mind what Whiteley/Ballard bring to the team. Maybe give Ballard some more midfield minutes, and have Whitely as the player who relieves our forwards when they're on the bench.

Woodland is an enigma - makes seemingly simple things like picking the ball up seem impossible sometimes, and then kicks a checkside and a snap while being tackled on the boundary line.

Can’t argue with the results though, she’ll finish top 3/4 in goal kicking again after winning it last year.

I don’t normally post on game day threads as so frustrated by Ponter
our Darwin girl with so much talent that has come now come to fruition
Does she still live in Darwin?

I know when we started, about 5-7 players were NT based.
And I think the only ones left were SLT (Who I think has moved to Adelaide), however, Ponter last time I checked was still up there????

I don’t understand your statement
Like McLeod maybe ?
Not a Darwinite as he moved later ?
Nathan Buckley - well he did some time here
The McLeans
The Riolis
Daveys

They changed they womens recruitment I am sure you know that
🤣

Early on we had a core group (SLT, Ponter, Holmes, I think that ruckman in the navy (Or did she follow Goddard from Canberra?)) who lived and trained in Darwin.

I'm asking if Ponter still lives and trains there, or has she moved to Adelaide.

Finally got a chance to watch the replay. Geez, it feels like we're limping to the end of the minor round.

Prowse absolutely fits in down back. Was nervy early on but settled and played a quality game. Should comfortably take over Rajcic's role down there from now on.

Biddell is absolutely superb. What a stellar season she has played, ten games of absolute quality without a single bad one. Hell, barely even a bad moment. I suspect Marinoff will win our B&F this year but if it was up to me, she'd be wearing the gold jacket.

What has happened to Hatchard's kicking? :( I swear, she has more come off the side of the boot than not! Six months ago she was arguably the best player in the competition, we need that Hatchy back please.

Ponter is in serious form at the moment. She's always been a big game player, or the one who stands up when you really need her. Well, we're going to really need her in the finals because none of our other forwards are in form right now. Munyard is doing her job well, but beyond that it's not great.

Did Mueller get much game time today? I barely saw her at all. Not that she was getting beaten by an opponent, she just didn't appear on the screen.

Kelly was very good again. I'm really liking what she brings to the side.

So we will almost certainly be facing Melbourne next week in a prelim, barring a big Richmond win. Interestingly, if North wins narrowly, it could be Geelong who finishes 4th! There's no way we beat Melbourne in our current form, so hopefully we can switch things on next week and get back to playing some quality footy. Our biggest problem at the moment is that we're just not clean. So many spilled marks, so many double-grabs, so many fumbled ground balls. We constantly end up inviting pressure onto ourselves, which then affects the next possession and so on. We just need to get clean again.

When we started nearly a third of the squad was Darwin based. Abbey Holmes, Angela Foley, Sally Riley, Jasmine Anderson, Stevie-Lee Thompson, Tayla Thorn, Sophie Armistead, Heather Anderson, Lauren O'Shea. SLT is the only one of the nine still with us. Two of those (J. Anderson, O'Shea) never even played a game, literally the only two players in the inaugural squad not to play a match. Six of them were delisted within two seasons, and Riley was delisted after 2019. Foley is now at Port.

Beyond those original nine players, the only other NT-based players we ever drafted were Jasmyn Hewett, Calista Boyd (2017 draft) and Danielle Ponter (2018 draft). After that they gave the NT zone to Gold Coast I think.

I believe Ponter relocated to SA at the end of last year.

Edit: Maybe I'm wrong about Ponter moving here. Looks like she is still based in NT but moved here temporarily at the end of 2021 to spend the preseason and playing season here. No idea if she went back home between the two seasons though. She was living with SLT apparently.

She was only 21 when she moved over temporarily. I expect her to go back for the breaks as AFLW season isn't a full year. It certainly helps with the training and pre-season though and I'm glad she's adjusted well and has good support around her with AFC teammates, esp with Stevie-Lee.

B&Fs take into account 2 things.

Participation, and role.

If Biddell doesn't win it, I'd be shocked.

Now, the league MVP. I wonder if Marinoff got enough touches that the umpires that might just go, she got alot of the ball, she deserves votes. And she nabs that. Plausible.

But Surely, SURELY Biddell wins the BnF in a canter.
