Great win Lions, great win. :thumbsu:

And on a positive note it was good to see Zorko focus on playing football and leading his team and not getting caught up in the sledging BS. Its not an attractive part of his game and actually hurts the team. Hopefully the 'óld dog' has learned something and keeps focusing all his energy on what is important.

I agree, but if Lyons is injured we should at least wait until he is fit again before writing him off.
I am not writing him off for next year, but his form would need to improve. Maybe if fit there is an argument to include him next week against the bigger Geelong midfield but I would not.

Take this from a neutral supporter. I'm Brazilian, Power supporter.

I was listening to the game this morning (Yes, it's still yesterday here). I wasn't watching it. The noise from Lions supporter was beyond ridiculous. It sounded like the Gabba.

Absolutely astonishing stuff.

Berry took the * out of Oliver's lunch money. OMG!

You have never looked so good, LicoriceAllsorts!

Black-white-teal suits you well... ;)

Zorko with less than 30% of the votes is surprising.

Probably the best captain’s game he has played. Put all the nonsense aside and let his actions do the talking. Important clearances but his forward pressure in the second half was elite - no surprise to hear we reached the highest pressure rating of the finals.

Hats off to him because the Dees were all trying to rattle him.

Also if Petracca was fully fit it would've been a different story I feel - the number of times where he went to burst away from a contest after getting free and couldn't was substantial. Saved us a good 15+ metres every time.

I can't decide whether it was arrogance or desperation for them to take obviously unfit players into the game.

Fritsch and Gawn didn't look right either.

Petracca had big impact early but was obviously hobbling and I really can't remember him doing much of note in the second half.

Seriously, how do you let a guy play in any game, much less a Final with a leg fracture AND a bad cork?. It's verging on reckless IMO.

It’s not a sight on Zorko, he was definitely our sixth best player. Just couldn’t have him over Hipwoods 4 goals, Berry and his second half, Rich gaining all the meters, Luggage doing what he does and Neale breaking the tag.

Brenton Sanderson showing why he got sacked.

But you don’t tell anyone that, you secretly start to take players off in their normal rotations, but when Clayton Oliver comes to the bench, he sits for 10 or 12 minutes instead of three or four.

“Petracca comes off at the 15-minute mark, put a tracksuit top on, you’re done for the game.

“There could be some of their other prime movers as well, Max Gawn comes off at the 20-minute mark of the last quarter, you’ve got to get ready for the Cats the following week.

“There’s a lot of work to do before that, but it feels this game could blow out.”
Good call :drunk:

was sitting in M8 and next to a bay of Melbourne supporters who were given it to Zorko. Got a little willing near the end when Demon supporters who were booing Zorko the whole game got peeved with a bloke in our bay giving it to Petty.

When the siren went Kiddy Coleman was in front of us ran over and gave the massive hug to the supporters on the fence in Bay 9!

if you could bottle this feeling and sell it - I’d make a fortune.

I was in the same bay. There were two I saw getting particularly pissed off. One in M7 lost it but everyone was just laughing at him and gave it back and there was a dude in M8 who'd been going aggro and eventually turned around and gave the finger to the Lions after after the Fritsch goal.

There was great energy among all the supporters there, among the best I've ever seen at a game and the players definitely fed off it. When Hippy kicked his third and came running over it felt like he really wanted to give some acknowledgment. Already can't wait for next week.

Was watching it in Brazil as well. Nothing like a 6:30am beer and finals footy to kick the day off.

Loved hearing the press conference. Berry texting Fages earlier in the week asking to be put on Oliver. I can see why we used Dev first. He did well, but the larger body of Berry just allowed for more oomph. Reckon we've been holding off using Berry so physically until now to keep him on the park without any aggravating his shoulder.

Lets hope after we win the GF he can have a good off-season and fully heal it.

Plenty of Victorians screaming our lungs out for the Lions, thanks very much.
C'mon, I was more referencing how we've knocked off two victorian clubs and the vic media who wrote us off in both weeks. I think that's worthy of an up yours.

Our fans last night were awesome - definitely could've worded it better tho.

Hipwood has come of age in the last few games. He will never be the monster forward but he has shown an ability to get to good positions and scrap and fight and do little taps and make tackles that have an effect. He made a difference tonight and kept one of the tall defenders honest.

Fullarton, thrown in late, worked hard and got better as the game went on. That would have been an incredible psychological challenge to prepare at short notice for that game in that atmosphere. He probably started poorly but by the end was beginning to show that he can step up.

Dev and Wilmot clearly belong at this level - will get better and better.

When Kiddy has the ball there seems an instinctive lift in our urgency. He could really develop into a special player over the next season or two.

Berry - really grew before our eyes tonight.
Kiddy could be Hodgesque good.
So composed back there.

What a night I just experienced at the MCG!

Even the morning after I can’t wipe the smile from my face.

An amazing performance from the Lions players and from the thousands of Lions fans in the stands who fed off the sheer determination and enthusiasm of the team.

The cheering from the Lions crowd behind the goals at the Ponsford Stand end will be something I will never forget - was great to share it with my now 18yo son who has been to every Lions game here in Victoria since he was a toddler but never seen a finals victory live.

Thank you Lions!

That was an unforgettable night!

Let’s do it again next week.

Seemed like we were keeping beaten up Berry on the wing out of physical harm for his running…can’t believe he came in and did that
He was awsome.
Back to his best I reckon and that's going back to the year pre Neile era , when he leap frogged Clugga that year .
Playing in the guts and a main driver and tackler.
Back to where he belongs doing what he was made for, FRIGGIN BEAST.
So hopefully his shoulder issues don't hinder him anymore and force him away from the coal face.
