That's why the Tingles won all those flags

Haha no way will the SACA let footy hurt any of their preparation for a test match pitch which starts in 18 days time.Need to move Cricket to Glenelg and the AFLW to AO - that way nobody will miss out on getting a ticket
Good footballer, but needs to get more involved IMO.I was surprised to see her unload a nearly 50m drop punt for her first shot on goal, too.

Thinking about this a bit more, the AFLW's quarters are 17 minutes the men's 20 minutes.
1994 Playing time for a quarter was amended to 20 minutes plus time-on instead of 25 but more time on situations were introduced. 2006 Introduction of automatic time-on from when a field umpire crosses his arms until a ball-up.
According to AFL tables the average AFL team scores between 2021 and 2024 have been 79pts, 83pts, 83pts, and 84pts respectively.
2020 covid saw 16 minute quarters introduced for the season after the Rd 1 shut down- average scores for year which had 9 games at normal 20 minutes, was 60pts.
The average score per AFLW in 2024 was 37.6pts. All quarter stats are for minor round part of the season.
So to come from 22 pts down at 3/4 time is probably like the blokes coming from 40pts down, but probably more given its a knockout final.
We scored 3.2 in 3 quarters and 4.6 in the last quarter which included 3 posters - 2 by Houghton and 1 by Symes and 2 straight forward shots on goal, Welland's set shot from 25 metres out on a 45 degree angel, Symes relatively easy shot on the run from 15-20 metres out on a slight angle, which was the winning point and a rushed behind by a Hawks player which tied up the scores at 49 all.
Our equal biggest come from behind in the AFL was earlier this year 41pts down late in the 3rd quarter v Hawthorn Rd 12 miracle 1pt win. The other 41pt come from behind loss was against WCE Rd 5 2013 when we were 41pts down about a minute earlier on the countdown clock than the Hawks game.
This bugged me last night after I wrote this, as watching the final 2 minutes of the game on afl website the clock stopped when points were scored and at stoppages, and I remembered that AFLW had removed time on for stoppages, throw ins and after behinds were scored, so I watched the start of the last quarter and indeed there was no time on for those events.
So I looked up the rule and found out that;
AFLW Rules - AFL.com.au/aflw
The AFLW Rules allow for the game to be played in a safe and fun environment.www.afl.com.au
Duration of match and intervals between quarters
Increased quarter length to 17 minutes in total, broken down into 15 minutes with time on for goals or major injuries only, and the additional two minutes with time on for all match stoppages.
The length of the interval at quarter-time and three-quarter-time will be reduced from six minutes and 30 seconds to six minutes, and that the length of interval at half-time will be reduced from 16 minutes to 14 minutes.
This link also has the clarification of the last touch rule between the 50m arcs, which is better than the SANFL rule, ie you are having a shot for goal inside 50m arc and you kick goes out of bounds, AFLW no free to oppo, SANFL free to oppo.
When a goal is scored in both AFL and AFLW there is a 45 second break for commercials to be slotted in, but the clock is stopped for about 1 minute of real time as the clock doesn't count down until umpires have actually bounced/thrown up ball, so about 15 seconds is taken for umpire to receive the OK in their ear piece and wall in and bounce/throw it up. Sometime in men's game it takes the umpire longer to set themselves and bounce the ball as they aren't confident and its about 69 second break between clock stopping and restarting.
So this is how long it took for the quarters to run;
1st 21.02, 3 goals scored, last 2 minutes took 4.00 as a goal was scored at and after umpire signal 1.53 was left.
2nd 20.50, 3 goals scored, last 2 minutes took 2.50, Hawks scored 2 pts.
3rd 19.49, 2 goals scored, last 2 minutes took 2.48, Hawks scored 1 pt.
4th 22.42, 5 goals scored, last 2 minutes took 2.55, Port scored 2 pts.
Most of these quarters with the same amount of goals scored in the men's game would take between 30-32 minutes. Maybe they should do the same thing with the men's game with either 15 or 18 minutes with no stoppages apart from goals and injuries, and either the last 5 or 2 minutes have time on for stoppages, out bounds and when points are scored.

I've posted the relevant part of the Adelaide Oval Management Act before and cricket have control of AO between 8th October and 14th March.
Now if it is an relatively easy thing to do to remove 2 pitches for 48 hours, replace them with 2 normal grass concrete trays, and it doesn't change anything to them, then Premier Pete might step in and "encourage" the SACA to allow it to happen because the legislation allows for the designated period for the 2 sports to change as it says;
"or such other periods as may be agreed between SACA and the SANFL."
Anyway gotta beat North yet and the crows have to beat Brisbane, neither are a simple task.
That’s why the touched rule should be abolished. Who cares, touched whatever it’s a mark or score. Would save so much time and headaches for a technicality rule.The game just goes too long now for all these stoppages and things like goal reviews to see if a little pinkie bent backwards and we go thru 25 replays and goal umpires not having the confidence to make simple calls so more replays, especially after that crows goal non review against swans a couple of seasons ago.
The Scoops play-by-play call of the last quarter

I’d also remove touching posts, goes through goal, goals, hits post bounces back into play, point, simple
He enjoyed scrum training moreAlan Jones likes this.
