Flags should not really matter when determining teams like this. Plenty of extremely good players who never win a flag and plenty of very bog average players who do win flags.

Cox better than Gawn, I love Gawn but it's just wrong to say he is as good around the ground as he is in the ruck. Cox really was.

We are a quarter of a century into the 21st century now, and have had enough amazing players whose careers have been solely in the 21st century to overtake those whose haven't.

Simon Black the glaring omission for mine.

Those crying over the Gawn ahead of Cox decision need to chill. It really does come down to personal preference.

There continues to be too much bias shown to players who began and played much of their best footy in the 90’s. Fair enough Buckley wasn’t picked as his last elite year was 2003, but Voss didn’t do much beyond 2004 and makes the 18. If it’s a team of this century, has he really done more than Swan, Mitchell, Neale, Fyfe or Cripps? I can justify the two Crows selections as they were highly decorated in the 2000s. I’d probably find room for Hawkins at the expense of Lloyd but that might be unpopular.

Cox and Gawn both absolute champions but it’s Gawn pretty comfortably for me now. I can’t pick Cox over him and with Goodes we have a second ruck already.

Yeah, gotta agree - McLeod's best years were late 90s. I always feel Voss was a great captain but in pure footy terms I don't rate him as high as others. Definately think Gawn is in. Otherwise, hard to argue, maybe a few positional changes.

I also think Stevie J was a serious omission given they put Dangerfield on the flank. Stevie or Aker should have made it

Good call....forgot about Milne but he averages more goals than both Betts and Cameron and kicked 50 plus goals a year 6 times.

Akermanis probably the main one I’d put in. Brisbane get pushed aside in these things because their flag players had careers spanning over 90s & 2000s - but Aka did his best work in that 2000-2004 era delivering 3 flags, nearly a Norm & a Brownlow & I’d have him over Ricciuto (factoring in team balance - a fast runner on the wing) and Riewoldt.

I’d happily have a pressure forward, such as Rioli, over one of Pavlich/Bont on bench. Quintessential modern role & you don’t have a single team picked for last 14 years or so without a dedicated pressure forward. So you HAVE to pick one for me and Rioli takes it.

Im not sure I can justify Pav as a utility on the bench when already playing Goodes (plus three talls at either end). Way too much height.

Definitely would want another proper half forward in Stevie J or Aker, bump Danger to the bench.

Agree that Voss is tricky on which side of the century he goes in. Im not sure I can fully justify him here

Dangerfield at HF

Either put him in the midfield, interchange or not in the team at all. He’s not a HF and a butcher.

He is officially noted as being a midfielder / forward and has kicked 335 goals which is not a bad effort. If he'd never played in the forward line I'd say don't put him there.

FWIW, Dangerfield has averaged 0.8 behinds a game. Same as Dusty Martin

Simply pointing out the forward line is not foreign to Dangerfield. Whatever you think about him he is 100% in any team of the Century. How many others have achieved 8 AA's this century? AA is of course the "team of the year"

Best team of the century = All Australian. Has to be the most important consideration. The question was not name the best performed team in finals this century. Not even sure why you're arguing this point. Dusty is in the SEN team
