Strawman argument. Was anybody calling Clarkson a s**t coach when Hawthorne lost to Gold Coast by 86 and St. Kilda by 75 two years ago? Was anybody calling Simpson a s**t coach when they lost to bottom 4 Sydney by 45 points this year? These are a couple of examples of very good coaches being beaten by s**t sides, not even by a side that is hot and cold like Port, who's hot is up there with the best in the comp.

If you wanted to pick out a famous example, Allan Jeans was a great coach of a great Hawthorn side that in 1984 looked all powerful and set for back to back **** were flogged by North at Arden St.

Think Worsfold is a coach who tries to empower players to lead and to win. Not certain how effective he is at that, but that is his goal.

John will coach on for another year with us for sure. But if we lose the next three games, I'd be very disappointed in the ability of ALL our coaches to turn the club's form around. We've looked patchy at best for the last two weeks. If they can't get them up for Freo and Bulldogs, something needs to change.

My only gripe with Worsfold is on team selection, for which he should not take all the blame but a fair share of it as it is his team.
Examples are early in the season when he continued to play Baguley as a defensive forward when all and sundry could see it wasn't working.
He has also stifled Ridley's progress with non selection , I would not be surprised if he asks for a trade !.
Myers playing ahead of Dylan Clarke for so long, McNeice playing ahead of BZT and Ridley ?????.
But for me the biggest error was not having Draper in ahead of Zak Clarke when he was dominating in the VFL.
I think most supporters would be more understanding if we were selecting the strongest line ups instead of sticking with players that all can see are not working for one reason or another eg Langford as a mid.

Nothing more than a stubborn old man now. The game has well and truly passed him by. Worst selection in the league, refuses to adjust game plan, refuses to drop over the hill players, just an old school approach that has proven to not work in the modern game

I have wondered for a long time why only one person seems to be put up for srutiny. Honestly is Worsfold alone to blame if we miss finals? Is he alone to blame for selection? Is he alone to blame for match day moves? Or is it simply a case of the entire coaching committee makes decisions and its the head coaches responsibility to wear the failures?

Every time a coach is sacked mid season, there is a bump in team performance - thats a fact. But its probably more related to the existing players worried about their position on the list in the year to come. It does not ultimately hide the short comings on a list.
